Holy Flame Totem

i'd find it interesting that a shadow would use totems (boosts are opposite side of grid or at center). as for the passive node in question, it also has fire damage boost, so its still perfectly fine to take it.

What about "increase spell damage %" passives? any idea if they work with flame totem? Thanks

I hope I'm not being too annoying but can anyone confirm the above? It's quite a few points on my build that I'd have to change (he's not finished leveling so I haven't spent them yet). I could just use a couple regret orbs and find out but hopefully don't have to. Thanks

Flame totem is way too graphics and sound intensive with greater multiple projectiles.

One guy with dual flame totems with greater multiple projectiles slows my game down more than playing in a full group.

The worst part about flame totem is that the sound is multiplied for each additional projectile so dual totems result in 10 times the sound, effectively removing all other sounds from the game. It's amazingly annoying. The only thing I hear is the constant roar of the totems and the occasional stuttering from other sounds.

This is true for a number of other skills as well like Lightning arrow or poison arrow, but they are nowhere near this bad.

I go from ~200 fps to ~20 with just two flame totems on screen.

That's a downer :( Didn't know that. Maybe I'll just stick with LMP instead of GMP, or do you think GMP is a must?

I have no way to test this conclusively, which is why I am asking......

Does magic find affect things killed by the totem? I ask this because it sure seems like it does not. I am not talking about the increase rarity gem, I am talking about magic find gear. I have noticeable increases in MF on all my characters when I put it on with this exception of my flame totem guy.

Ohh, I didn't reply to you or anyone else in this thread. I didn't actually read what had been said. :)

My post was intended as a "bug" report about this skill. My friend is playing a dual flame totem character and most of the time I just don't want to group with him because it ruins my enjoyment of the game. The skill is that bad in it's current form. Fix the sound and reduce the complexity of the effect and I'll be a happy camper. Another problem with the skill is that it completely covers everything that is happening on screen with flame, so you can't see monsters, items, party members or anything.
The strange nature of Flame totem is making it really hard for me to tell what is actually working with it and what isn't. I find it difficult to even tell if it's piercing or not, and if more then 1 of the multiple shots is hitting the same guy. Does anyone know if there is a list or some distinctive way to tell what is actually going on when I'm using flame totem?

That's what I like to know too!

some spells in this game are very graphic intensive. e.g. poison arrow or this flame totem here. When playing in a public group with 4-6 people it usually becomes unplayable very fast.

I'm playing a dual flame totem witch myself atm. When running solo game runs smooth usually with 40-75 fps (75 is max bc of vsync). Now I upgraded m flametotem with lesser multiple projectiles and well...Each totem now cast 3 flames, making it 6 in total.
Result is that I can't really play fluid anymore. Frames per seconds dropped down to like 10, when the totems are on the screen and firing. I have to play like this, cast totems...lagrun of to the other side, so that i no longer see the totems and look for loot there...then recast totems and run to the other side. Party play with this is not really fun IMO.

You really have to integrate an option into the game that turn down visual effects if needed. I don't really care if the effects don't really look first class state of the art anymore as long as I can have a fluid game experience. ATM they are to demanding and causing huge fps drops when certain things come together.
