Well, I'm a pretty straight forward guy. And I'm a pretty fair, nice and reasonable person to most people. I don't like cheats, even less, cheats that only a small elite group get to use to get huge advantages over everyone else. I think such things need to see the light of day and be addressed.

First of all it was called 2/8-ing.

The vast majority of players did not 1/8, it was too slow. So you would often see people in the hccl channel looking for other players to 2/8 with. You would know this if you had ever actually played classic ladder hardcore.

Going back to the 1.09 days. My Duke was TEB-Pain.

And you didn't "have to" level to 87 in cows. It was just really really slow to level otherwise. That was what made duke's cool. Before 1.10 you couldn't go into hell cows unless you were a king/queen. Having the Duke title was proof that you never cow leveled in hell mode.

That was what made it such a neet deal.

If you had played in 1.09 D2 classic, you'd know that there were two very large clans SZ and TEB. I was the leader of TEB. Anyone who played classic hardcore ladder for more than a month in the 1.09 days knows who I am.

You probably couldn't name anyone from those days, because you didn't play.

But I remember them well, because I knew them.

my highest ladder char from 1.09 was OF-TEB (aside from my 92 Duke TEB-Pain). Died to a stygan doll...it was dumb

and yes you could play hccl on a 56k, you just died a LOT and I did, but I found with enough armor you could sometimes survive the lag outs.


avg'd a 26.6k connection usually.

First ladder entry my friend could find on USEast is dated from July 2007 aka Season 4.

So long after the high time of D2 and botting was quiet popular.
The HC LoD Ladder clearly shows multibotters with several characters on the Top.
Also Season 4 was the patch where the classic Act5 exploit got abused by many players.

My friend only found one ancient screen with a "Bird" on the first page but the name was AB-Bird.
Also there is a Europe Ladder Screen from 2003 with Of-TEB.

Nothing with TEB-Pain.

Finding screen shots of Duke TEB-Pain is really hard, I'm not sure any exist. His highest rank was towards the end of 1.09 and he died and fell off the top 16 pretty fast. Your a lot more likely to find my King OF-TEB char....but that is beside the point.

Birdman started at the end of 1.08 played for all of 1.09 primarily on hccl east server.

If you don't know TEB, you didn't play 1.09 hccl east/ heck even most players on west hccl knew of TEB.

I played 99% classic because expansion was just too easy to level. Way too many 99s. The items were too OP, classic was fun because it was a lot more a of a challenge.

I even knew a few euro players, and yes I made a random char on euro from time ta' time.

Your 2000 Screnshot is before my time. So I couldn't say for absolute certain, but I believe, from what I was told back in the day PK-Pony was a west/east player and didn't ever play euro in any serious fashion.
