I died verifying that fighting Dungeon Brutus with 3 frenzy charges is a bad idea.

Verified.
Request; Please verify Cells Brutus with 3 frenzy charges.

I verified Maze Oversoul with 3 frenzy charges last race, as in killed him. Gotta run a twinned Maze on my main someday.

RIP Panda, man that's killer. See you in the top 10 tomorrow =P
just died on fidelist ruthles one shot me with lighting strike...
think i get hited by melee hit and all 3 projectile
2.2k hp and 41% light resi
question is if that 1 hit apilled shock effect dmg is increased on it ?
So far got to act 2 ruthless and no problems with resists, but it's partly because of this:
Unavailable

Also as tanky templar I have a lot of available resistances and endurance charges, with charges I have 80% all resists even without purity, possibly going to use purity in merciless but not even sure if it will be needed, I'm going to get elemental damage + resist nodes from witch tree so I should be set and use purity only when in danger of elemental weakness.

I like the negative resistances, it was really too easy to get maximum before this change. However, I feel that it's a nerf to rangers, witches and shadows. My character choice was fortunate but not aimed for resistances. Tanky ranger was doing OK last race but I have no idea if same build would work now (probably not bad considering I found Goldrim :P) I don't feel that going for nodes of +15% single resist is worth points, especially since they are not on paths of my previously planned chars.

So I just died because of the "flicker strike always hits" bug. My pure evasion ranger had 0 defense against this, and thus I had no chance of kiting a pack of 5 flicker strike mobs in a dungeon.

I'm a little bit mad.

Yeah flicker strike mobs are some of my most feared. I typically wont even do the pirate ship because of them until I'm a full difficulty above them.

I had this same thing happen to my ranger. I hit the dungeon and immediately started getting mobbed by flicker-strike. I thought I'd be okay since I was a level above the dungeon, but I thought wrong.

The whole event lasted like 10 seconds...It was really frustrating. I don't know if I'll start again. Maybe go out-of-character and reserve a phase run for quick retreat scenarios.

My thought is a resistance penalty is a step process , make the next step and get slammed for it. Why were resistance items handed out like candy? Ofcourse you could easily get max resistance in items if you built for it.

Slapping us with a penalty for making the next difficulty is ridiculous because the game uses level progression. The resistance system is flawed. GGG should've used a system similar to armor in that you need more resistance as damage gets higher to compensate. And bigger hits will lessen the effectiveness of that resistance. Progressive penalties instead of step penalties.

Remove the extra resistance nodes , remove the reistance penalty and toss in small resistance to critical siimilar to marauder but something everyone can use.

Modulate -Skullfuck , tune to play POE
I NEVER thought I'd ever say this, but I actually miss grinding maps (even lvl 60-61) with my lvl 78 witch. I don't think I'll reach so far (maps) with my HC witch, lvl 47 right now. She'll probably die before map time or I chicken out.

Act 2 end boss hasn't hit me once so far, but let's see what happens if I reach him in ruthless (in act 2 right now). Spamming skeletons with minion instability has its advantages.

GL everyone and take care!

Well I'm out, stay safe racers, I admire the persistence and drive some of you have.

I was on my way out of this game a few patches ago when I saw the general direction the devs were taking the game (bringing down so-called OP builds rather than bringing under used skills/builds up to par) but I decided to test the resistance league to see if what has really been bothering me the past few races persisted: loot. Either I am the unluckiest person in the world (which I'm not, I have a beautiful wife and 7-year old daughter) or the down slide that started when they removed the guaranteed blue+ drop from rare monsters has started to be an overwhelming theme. I originally played this game because I didn't have to spend hours during the main leveling 'grind' trolling chat for gear upgrades; I always found something useful to help progress to the next zone/act. This race my Mara is in Act 2 Ruthless still decked out in A1 Cruel gear (29% DR with passives, barely over 20 in any resist, 1450 hp) - Mara 48, Witch 22, Duelist 24 -- 1 Alchemy, 1 Chaos, very few usable rares (mainly traded alts to get the few upgrades I do have).

Do I play a loot driven game to get loot? Yes.

Do I want a challenge? Yes, of course, or I would have been bored to tears and left ages ago.

Is grinding the latter part of A2 for upgrades a challenge? NO, it's a GRIND and mindnumbingly dull.

Yes, resistances were far too easy to cap out before but this is not the solution as many others have already pointed out. All the penalties do is force you to grind or scan chat for hours for possible upgrades.

What made D2 amazing was the ability to login for 30 mins, an hour or even a day if you wanted and almost always be assured of an upgrade, do some wickedly fun PvP (113-0 EHCL) or gain some progress towards 99 if that was your cup of tea. Point being, it was only a time sink if you wanted it to be. To get anywhere in PoE, you either have to grind for hours with the possibility of ZERO rewards (not even just progressing to endgame as there are much bigger offenders such as Fusings and the current map system at endgame) or play the trading game for countless hours.

TL;DR - I miss loot, I like loot, I also like a challenge, where's the balance?

P.S. In case there wasn't enough flame bait in my post, I'm heading out to buy Mists of Pandaria in a few minutes :)
