Razer Footprints: Poll

Ads are a pox. When given the option, I'll always prefer to pay extra to support the content creator than view an ad (see also: twitch subscription). The decision to plaster ads all over the place was forced on me without any say in the matter, and with no way to disable the effect.

If there were a way to disable the effect, I would be ambivalent. I will never like them.

+1. It sucks even more when you pay the extra and you still have to see the ads.
Dislike.

It's great GGG is getting more supporters but in game advertisement is just a bad idea.

What ads? I don't see any in game. Is the concern about ads about the website only?

I believe the concern is that the footprint effect itself is an ad since it is Razer's logo. While this is technically true, I don't see it as a huge problem in this particular case, though it does set a dangerous precedent and I hope one they don't repeat or at least are VERY careful about if they do.

Big real world company logos stamped across the ground in Sarn city for the brief moment I logged in (or whenever you happen to be in an instance with anyone using them). I don't want to see it. Wraeclast isn't the real world, it's a fantasy land that isn't spammed with logos.

And I don't get why people are calling them footprints. They have nothing to do with footprints, they are comparable to the entire size of the character, not just its feet.

I see. Well it's not as if normal people make public protests about other people wearing brand name apparel. Nope. Could you imagine how it would look if someone went out on the street and started telling anyone and everyone wearing brand name attire; that they should NOT be wearing stuff like that in public?

Not really a relevant analogy. It's become fairly well accepted that free games spam you with advertising until you pay some money so you don't have to see ads anymore. Paying money and still seeing ads isn't cool.

I wouldn't care so much in other game types, but Wraeclast is a fantasy land. You're supposed to be drawn into it by the art, the sounds, the gritty details. Seeing a big brand third party logo being stamped across the ground is like a giant rock being smashed through the window of illusion.
I tried them, I take back my "don't care" they're kinda neat
Don't forget to drink your milk 👌
Saw 4 in town, I take back my ambivalent.

Hate them, tacky as all hell. Will kick anyone who has them attached.

It is a relevant analogy. People live every day in real life promoting their favorite business. Nothing unethical about wearing Nike tee shirts, nothing wrong with Razor footprints either.

There's fantasy land and then there's going too far fantasy land. Like the religious saying: being too heavenly minded a person is of no earthly good.
