[OSX] Unofficial Path of Exile port - 30/12/2018 status update
First off, I want to thank Julus for such a great port!
I know a lot of people have asked this, but I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I'm experiencing a ton of lag when playing (using 4.0.1). Yes, I have restarted my laptop. Also, I know that GGG has acknowledged this, but I don't think that windows players are experiencing as much lag as I have been, otherwise they would not be playing. The game literally becomes unbearable to play. I have no programs running when I'm playing PoE, my internet is completely fine, and I have reinstalled the entire game completely. I'm using a mid 2012 macbook. Anyone have any ideas? Could this be a wine issue or is it really just an issue that GGG has to fix? Sorry for asking a question that has constantly been asked. Thanks! Little Issue here. When using Command+Tab (Like Alt+Tab) while using fullscreen the game sets into windowed mode and locks like that. No biggie only that the Mac Menu Bar cuts off the top 20 pixels and making the game a nuisance. Is there a known way to bring the game back into full screen after using Cmnd+Tab?

" Ask windows ATI users ;) http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/145572 http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/126058 Basically, all wine encounter users same issue as some windows Ati users + OSX bug. Last edited by julus#1066 on Feb 14, 2013, 7:25:07 PM

I've been analyzing the lag issue lately (seems like summon skeleton on freshly launched game is good sample, as it is fastly reproducible).
nerdy image of lag analysis
As seen from picture the lag has 3 phases 1) OSX mmap bug - I can try minimize the time spent here, but ... when preloading is intruduced by devs it will go away - causes lag 2) Shader loading and assembly.. actually more than 43% of that is pointing to Graphic driver (function gldUpdateDispatch - internal call to resynchronize OpenGL state) this should be improvable by optimizing game (or wine?) - and this is causing lag also 3) coffee break - no, seriously, I don't have a clue where the cycles went.... last call before it seems like it was from game, and after it it was rendering... |

Hi Julus I have been happily playing path of exile on my mac using your awesome port.. BUT I have been having a bit of a problem... When I try and launch path of exile it stays at Checking Resources! I have left it for over an hour! Any help from any one would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

" This step can be ridiculously long. Make sure you have enough free space (at least 10GB), and leave it overnight to patch. (One Linux user reported it toke over 8 hours ti complete) |

I have already patched so why would it do it again? Thanks

thank you a lot for a wine wrapped PoE OS X port.. running like a charm on my early 2011 MacBook Pro ... few hic ups but those are WINE issues that will hopefully be fixed in the future.

" Continuing on this issue, rather off-topic but I'll mention this nonetheless. So I just did Docks with my new Summoner, under Bootcamp Win7. There are quite serious problems there too. Whenever I cast Summon Skeletons, some tiles on the terrain go all black (aka glitching). Then whenever Voidbearers were in sight my FPS instatnly dropped below 10, making progress very dangerous. For my summons, I used 4 Zombies, 5 Skeletons and 2 Spectres. No Spectres were Voidbearers. Could be ATI/AMD driver issues, could be game issues, could be something else. I did install AMD Catalyst drivers (for HD 2000 Series) just before playing. Maybe I should get rid of them and see if Apple's Bootcamp drivers do better. EDIT I just did a similar run under Wine. And guess what. No glitches/missing tiles, sligthly less choppy performance overall. I don't know what to say... Last edited by krifFinn#4964 on Feb 15, 2013, 5:37:33 AM
