Why I'm quitting PoE and no longer recommending it to friends

Presume fusings are removed and have 6ls only available by drop. How many hours (if any) should guarantee a 6l drop?....
6l already is available for drops

I think there should be a recipe for 6l for 2 reasons

1) Some people are risk averse and it helps them psychologically if they can just collect a certain amount and trade for a 6l

2) The recipe, if used, should require more fusings than crafting normally would take. This is because it will serve as an additional sink for fusing orbs, thus making 6l items rarer on the market.

Even though crafting using RNG is actually better (and should remain as the better option), many risk averse people cant comprehend its beauty, so I think the recipe is still required

As i said before the problem is not how hard to get it, the problem is between 0-300 fusing orb the item doesn't give any reward of getting 300 fusing on hit, it's like you got a sword and after 1000 hours of crafting you get and Excalibur but after 999 hours you still have a crappy sword, the item doesn't retain the crafting you put in on...

I hope someone understand what i tried to say...

Look at it this way. Fusing is equivalent to the RNG dropping items. Instead of Vaal dropping it, you are trading the possibility of the 6l occuring on any possible item, you are dropping a specific 6 socket item repeatedly until it drops with 6l. The draw back is its only a single item, there is no secondary loot, nor is it like the orb of chance rolling a rare instead of a unique.

I think its a pretty fair trade off because the player guarantees the item being "dropped", its just unfortunate that secondary loot rolls, 4l/5l in this case, have no value to that player rolling for 6. Not sure the devs can fix the issue of discarding everything below 6l when rolling fusings.

The difference is when something drops, it doesnt affect your current gear. The same equiv would be that you fight a boss, if you dont get the gear you want, your gear loses sockets as well... The whole point that sucks about the orb system is NOT that it is hard or randomly hard to get a 6L, its that you LOSE when you have a 5 slot and you reroll the slots and you get bumped down to a 1 slot. This makes your gear piece not even able to use! THIS is what is causing people to be frustrated since it is in a sense "starting them off at square 1 again". Without a system that allows people to progress towards a goal, the entire system is seen as pointless and not fun.

If a certain piece had a higher drop chance from a certain boss, people would farm the boss all day banking on RNG, the ONLY thing lost here is time, however they gain exp and potential currency and items.

If an item is obtained by rolling with ORBS, the loss is time, currency, and the item iteself if it rolls less slot then what you currently have. the ONLY potential gain is the item you hope for, which apparently is a very low chance.

It seems #1 is accepted by most and a fair tradeoff...
#2 is too much risk with too little reward...

they fail to realize that without the great orb system, they would depend only on #1. they use #2 at their own risk, knowing it could make the item worse, and complain about it rather than be grateful it exists in the first place.
the path that can be chosen is not the correct path to choose. such is the nature of the Dao.

This is exactly what im trying to convey. The crafting system is broken down to specific steps (gambles) to let the player obtain the item, instead of relying on the RNG to drop that item that is the right type, that is the unique, and 6 socket, and 6 link, and perfect colors. Instead of having a 1 in a really big number chance of everything landing properly, the player can do it step by step and ultimately do it far faster than straight item farming, a la D2.

In the whole, the system is brilliant, given the complexity of the item system due to sockets/links.

i completely agree. but as was suggested, to make the masses feel better, this very large number should be introduced. then they would collect 1/3 or 2/3 of it, go to the forums, read that RNG would actually produce better results, and try it to see for themselves. but giving them the option would ease their minds at start, and slowly make them move to our opinion.

I guess... I don't like it as I see the recipe as intentionally harmful, since I place no value on risk aversion sin this case.
300 fusing just to get 6s? lol to hell with that! if i wanted to play a game that deliberately wastes my time with asinine rng then Id go play some painfully frustrating diablo 3 action .

The difference here is the 6L is a luxury item, versus D3 needing to farm for necessary items.

I've been doing maps with only a 3L on my main skills so its not like you need anything more than 3L or 4L to have fun
I have extra beta keys and I'm not giving them out

PoE1 > PoE2
ugh, the point being made is that ( many ) people tend to be able to roll a 6L BY 300. Many people will get lucky sooner. The topic of discussion is a way around the RNG and have a recipe that involves fusing orbs that guarantees a 6L.

No one has mentioned rolling sockets in several pages that I can see...

Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet?
