I vote for 5% and 10%, 3 and 8 just seems a little low.
Fix huge desync with Cyclone or Flicker Strike combined with Multistrike and Faster Attacks, then DP will be OK :)
I think that death penalty change is good change for Anarchy because sometimes the unexpected Exile makes a mess in the whole party and it's temporary league so it would make it easier to lvl up and risk a bit more but for Normal I don't think it's a good % change.
I'm very happy about the death penalty nerf!

To be honest, I'm a very bad player, I die a lot but I'm 47, I'm slow and I have not the time to play 24/7 to boost my skills. But on the other hand I'm employed and willing and able to pay some money for this game. Last time I played I recognized I need more stash tabs (you know, the ones with names as I can't memorize more than 50 stash tabs only by numbers...). But then I thought "Why should I spent another 20 bucks only to die and die and die and get nailed on level 59!? Yes, I'm only 59, did not even see any map from the inside and am not able to advance any further. I play solo - I don't like public groups and I only have one other friend who played (past tense!) PoE until he decided he had no longer fun in dying. So I went off and played (and payed for) other games.

This step for the casual games in softcore - which in other threads more than often is called dump league etc. and no real player would play in there anyways - is a very welcome one. I hope many other players like me will get the info and come back. You have to remember that in forums mostly the hardcore fans and players post, I think more than 90% of the player base doens't even read these forums regularely.

I'm still waiting for private leagues, I would happily pay for my own league where I can adjust such things as death penalty. Then I would completely get rid of it and play happily until the end of days...

And now let the flames come in...

i like changes,xp loss was way to high, good job GGG
You whiny softcore players had better buy some microtransactions as gratitude.
I'm glad this is changing, every time I(or others) died I kept saying its OK to die a few times in a lvl as its a part of the game to die and lvls be longer, until you gear up. that however statement feel like a forced part of the game forced on everyone, and some people can get discouraged easily etc.

That said however, I think 3/8 is too low for a game as hardcore as POE, I'll have to say 5/10(or 4/10) is much more suitable. because death is a thrilling matter even in softcore and should always feel that way.

Seems like a fine change!
Danskere: PM mig, hvis I har brug for en guild.
I was perfectly alright with 6S items not on PA and with the old death penalties.

That said, even though the changes were not something I needed or particularly wanted, I am extremely happy to see that GGG is attempting to widen the appeal of the game and realizing that the willingness to change can only be beneficial to the game in the long run. GGG isn't being bound by traditional conventions or nostalgia, willing to experiment as they progress and develop, and that is something that I respect them for.

However, there are hardcore leagues for players who want deaths to be extremely meaningful.

Yeap. Very happy to see that GGG recognizes that there are (to define it in broad terms) two major groups of players.

So, here is my idea. When you die, you have same death penalty. But if you will come back and avenge yourself in certian amount of time, half of lost xp will return to you.

this. perhaps even increasing the penalty, along with a chance to mitigate it via vengeance.
