Tyr's **0.11.1** Pure Elemental Bow Spec

"-Kill all the Bandits. Killemall. You will flog yourself at lvl 75 as penance to atone for your failure if you let one live"

Isn't 8% resist all better than +1 stat ?

Can you explain this one ? i just can't decide which one to pick ^^

Big thanks in advance

No. You want your stat points. Would you rather have 8% resists or 40% mana regen? Or Body & Soul?

Trying this build now and have to say the hardest part is until your reach Soul Siphon.
but after this things should be a little easier.

This and i had to work with fork because i don't have either Chain nor LMP.
Was really enjoying this build for awhile, but running into trouble in Act 3 Cruel. I have a Demon's Harp and switch between Lightning Arrow/Ice Arrow + Pierce + Chain + WED accordingly. My Lightning Arrow DPS is 301, whereas my Ranger buddy has over 500 DPS with it but he's using a higher-level bow. I have 1055 health at level 48, and I also seem to be having mana issues and am thinking about swapping in a third mana flask to use. Is Death's Harp that great of a bow compared to one with twice the damage on it? Thanks in advance.

I think the reason you guys are doing such poor damage is because of the rest of your gear. I don't have DH / Wake / Chain (sigh), but i'm getting these numbers:

(Linked with Culling Strike, Mana Leech, WED + Lv11 Wrath Aura)
Lightning Arrow: 446.6
Ice Shot: 549.5
Poison Arrow: 520.3
Explosive Arrow: 495

(Linked with LMP + Lv11 Wrath Aura)
Lightning Arrow: 227.3
Ice Shot: 285.9
Poison Arrow: 288.4
Explosive Arrow: 266.6

With this gear:

Pretty sure its only my quiver and ring that is keeping my dps semi-decent. Imagine if i had DH *sigh*

@Tyranthal, why im i getting the highest single target dps number on Ice Shot instead of Lightning Arrow?? .. I have Arcing Blows but no Ice Walker yet.

I believe we have such poor damage because chain reduces dmg by 50%, and DH has ~ half the dmg of a bow you can get in act 3 cruel. I'm sure it improves eventually with quality and level on gems and more +ele dmg nodes, but for now it's a bitch.

I'm considering using a different bow, or swapping out chain for something else until it's more leveled. For the record I have 322 dps on Ice shot+WED+Chain and a DH. Thats at level 52. Running all 3 dmg auras gives me 530 or so, so that's pretty much mandatory. I may also be lacking elemental dmg from gear.

Because of the Ice damage on your quiver would be my guess. I cant definitively tell you why because I'm not there setting your chr up.

And take chain out until you have the gear to make it viable if its not doing you any favors. Deviate from the skill tree as you see fit since everyone's gear is going to be different. Just keep in mind that the 90 build I posted is the most optimal when you get there if you want to play a highly effective but difficult experience along the way.

OK, so I've been playing a very similar build until level 62 so far and here is a lil bit of questions and feedback. First of all, thanks for the great build idea Tyrinthal: the soul siphon trick works like a charm. A few questions and comments:

1) Projectile damage - how is it calculated? Is it increasing the total damage of the arrow with multiplicative scaling? If it's true it's definitly worth spending 9 points to grab the 31% total projectile bonus from the ranger tree.

2) Auras. What auras should I be using. Atm I'm runing on 550 mana, with 140 of it reserved for wrath. I'm not sure what else I should consider using for the build.

3) Main spells. I've been doing some calculations instead of learning for exams and I'm really not geting the true reason to stick to anything but these spells: Explosive Arrow, Poison Arrow and Elemental Hit. Everything else works too of course (eg lightning arrow), but the trouble is that none of them actually has a base damage of themself and will scale of the physical damage of the player.

This might not appear like a problem in normal and cruel, but starting with Merciless this build scales down a lot, simply because of the lack of physical damage. This is fixable by adding lots of elemental damage from other sources (wake of destruction, rings blabla) but there is still simply no reason I see to stick to anything that scales of your physical damage or am i being wrong here? Atm.

I'm using a 1500 DPS ice arrow and a "500 dps" explosive arrow. However since the actual explosion of the arrow is not calculated into the DPS the real resulting damage of the EA is way higher.

4) Am i right in the asumption that this build scales GREATLY with any critical damage nodes? Simply because of the stats Death Harp provides and the fact that elemental procs are very powerful (including burning by the way, don't underestimate the burn of multipple stacked up explosive arrows!).

5) Summons. To compensate the lack of survivability I a got a spectre and 3 zombies and only gem'd them with minion health. The results were amazing. So at the moment I'm considering investing 10-15 points into summoning, while geting only health points and zomby/spectre upgrades.

Luckily this build passes most summoning nodes directely so there won't be any long routes and wasted points. Sure I might invest the few skill points into "pure" defensive skilsl or more offense, but the way I see it, you won't deal more damage if you run away and kite half the time.

At this point I'm thinking of something like this as the final build. Comments/thoughts? 6) Why get body and soul? What's the point of going for AR/EV? WHy not going for the native and normal EV/ES?
Please don't PM me ingame with filter/guide questions, post them on the forum, after reading the FAQ.
its Death´s Harp the best bow for this build?

Excellent questions.

1. Not entirely sure. This question would be best asked in a more specific forum. All I know is DPS increases & its not wasted.

2. Wrath + Anger + Hatred (expensive) + Discipline (expensive). The most realistic way to do this is for 2 reduced mana supports in 2 diff links. Quality reduced mana goes a long way if you can buy one with % on it. % is a luxury tho :P

3. You are correct but are straying from the path. I know its hard to just believe me, but, believe me. Keep stacking ele dmg. Thats what this build is about. If you do it right & dont fuck it up by wasting skills on phys nodes you will be fine. Stack as much + ele dmg % ele % dmg as possible. I developed this build for 6 months now, the way I laid it out is optimal.

1500 is nothing (no offense). At the end of CB I was pulling over 7k dps on LA per arrow. I made vids. This would not have been possible by taking phys passives or heaven forbid, changing bows. I had an Infractem that hit like a mac truck but was still not as effective as a DH.

You are correct with EA's AOE dmg. When you take Blast Radius & then Amplify you will definitely notice how there is way more dps there. I like shooting follow up shots to detonate the target. LA works well.

Elemental Hit is single target. Use it if you want, Ive never really taken to it.

Poison Arrow's aoe wrecks your MF. Refer to the list in post #2, you do not get any IIR IIQ bonus from the dot. This has been discussed at length in other threads.

4. Yes. But. Those numbers are deceiving. Im not a huge fan of investing heavily into crit damage. You have to crit first. If you dont crit, they are entirely wasted. Elemental damage is DPS you can trust. Not potential tooltip damage like crit dmg shows.

5. I dont use summons cause it makes the game too easy.

Hope this brings perspective.
