Tyr's **0.11.1** Pure Elemental Bow Spec
" I see. Thanks a lot for the quick reply. but what if i sacrifice a couple of elemental nodes for physical, will i get a higher dps output? and how about projectile nodes? are they worth taking if they are only a couple of node away? thanks again, this is an awesome build with great fun! EDIT: sorry one more thing, I imagine life on hit works better than life leech with this build, considering the massive AoE? all life leech gains life from physical damage right? " You will not get higher dps output from phys dmg. Its two separate worlds. To spec into the phys tree would mean going the wrong direction. This wouldnt be wrong, just wrong for this build. The projectile nodes are worth getting, I wouldnt go out of your way to get them tho. The templar passives will boost all your elemental damage, not just 1 kind. The shadow elemental passives will be a short term boost as you level but will ultimately limit you. You are correct about Life Gain on Hit. It is very effective when linked to Ice Shot. ____________________________________twitch.tv/tyranthal

This is my take on the build, I've shuffled a few points. I felt like with the nature of this build I could sacrifice any none essential defense buff. I just basically added a bit of projectile dmg for some life regen, life and mana. Let me know what you think. |

" yeah indeed the physical dmg nodes are usually far from the essential ones we need for this build. But technically, when a skill converts physical to elemental, the elemental portion can also be boosted by +x% physical damage, because it's doing something like this: weapon physical dmg * x% phys dmg increase * x% converted to elemental, right? speaking of this, does the dps numbers you see on the elemental skills, lets say lightning arrow, include the portion of physical damage, since it only converts half of the phys dmg? sorry for all these questions if they are really basic. still trying to figure out how some of the mechanics works. |

" Yes this build would be exceptionally strong. I wouldnt venture south till the Templar area is complete tho. ____________________________________twitch.tv/tyranthal

I really like the elemental bow focus. I've only played OB so far, and only my shadow really yet. I've been playing with the skill builder some, and was hoping for some input on this build. Hopefully its the same general style as yours. I tried to split it into the 30/60/90 point sections of leveling.
30 points 60 points 90 points For large parts this is identical to the build you have listed, but I shifted the top witch section of the build elsewhere. I just wanted to see if this looked like a fairly equal alternative, or if it had any important flaws to playing your way that I don't know enough to notice =) Last edited by Ancalanar#3593 on Jan 29, 2013, 9:17:51 PM

" i'm still learning the whole skill forest, so i could be wrong, but first thing i noticed is that ur build lacks of a bit more str nodes, you might run into some little problems of meeting certain gear requirment, but it really depends i guess. another thing is you miss blast radius with this build. But i like the mana and mana regen ability in your build. The extra 40% mana regen is tasty. :D EDIT: just reviewed ur build, it seems you have easy access to some good str nodes, so i guess str won't be a problem, if you keep leveling. You are right about the stat nodes, those were the main part that I lack working knowledge of gear to plan for. There are certain parts where I believe 30 str nodes are within 3 points of reach, so I could move things to get to them.
As far as the blast radius goes, I *think* I only lost 4% of the total % radius from passives that Tyr has in his build, but I could be wrong. There is however a decent chunk of increased aoe damage lost. I will prob try this build just to try it, for fun and all that... lol Just want to make sure I'm not missing something that I didn't realize was key. The main thing that I'm assuming is the extra elemental damage from lightning/frost walker can be made up for by the extra elemental weapon nodes and projectile damage nodes. If not, it could hurt the build some. |

Tyr, thanks for all of the great responses. I'm still trying to understand the barter system in this game - what should I expect to pay for a DH and Wake?

Since we are converting phys damage to element, would it really be that bad mathematically to invest in it over some of those you chose? Is there some maths comparisons as I am puzzled by the lack of phys damage on the build.
