The damage is tuned up way too high in this game.
IMO the damage is tuned up way too much in this game, and the gear check for durability toward the end of the game is too massive. Almost nothing should ever hit for 2000 damage under any situation. Certainly not mobs with attacks that are fast, next to impossible to avoid, and spammy. Like the leap slam by the Blacksmith in maps. Can't kite him, all you can do is keep running while he runs you down with leap slam spams, and as soon as you stop to take any offensive he nails you 1hko. Seriously, this is ridiculous.

i completely agree with op, i have almost 4k life and 16k armor and the blacksmith killed me in 2 secs. first i run away for 2 mins while he leapslams and theres nothing i can do, then i get close and he does 3 fast attacks and kills me
also look at all these crematorium boss deaths wtf |

They shouldn't be scaling the damage to hit people hard that got a ton of HP and armor, and that is what the problem is. Why make the game that much of a gear check? I noticed DPS scales up relatively smoothly, while durability and mob damage just goes completely nuts as you go on with the game. Its not balanced properly at all.
If they don't want to nerf the damage in normal league then make a casual league where damage is toned down by at least 50% minimum, and no exp penalty. That way everyone can play and have fun. Last edited by MrSmiley21#1051 on Jul 20, 2013, 4:12:01 AM

They can always make a loser league where Monsters do no damage and you one shot everything. Goodness, people, just don't play in the hard parts of the game if you cant handle them.

You're telling me that is balanced? I've played a lot of ARPGs, and PoE is by far the most proportionally unbalanced in that regard.
