All the bitching going on... i feel like people are too used to casual catered gaming. The points system is supposed to be that only about 10 people get the highest tier, the required points needed raises exponentionally, like trying to reach lvl100 its progressively harder the closer you get, i doubt any1 wants a D3 style lvl60 lol ur dun. Its meant to be an attempt to the very last race to keep up ifyou cant then settle for some lower rewards.

I'm quite sure the point rewards are incentive for participating and doing well, the end of season demi's are rewards for the few that fought hard to win that gets exponentially harder as the season progresses. If there is no possibly way you could get to a thousand points without winning races and making more than 50% of them why would you compete in the first place.

I'll break it down for you.

161 races

You make it to 50% of them plus the one week.

80x10=800 points for finishing in the top point bracket, something only a few do in the first place.

In the one week you get the top tier point bracket again and earn another 30 points.

Now you're still 170 points short and would either have to make another 17 races or earn placement points in the first 80 races you did.

Take in to account that the races are spread across three major time zones I ask why should one compete and even try to achieve something that is unachievable? Again, if the 1000 point rewards are only for the few at the top of the ladder then why not just give it to them at the season end together with the demi's and scrap the point system altogether.

Edit: This is not to mention the inherent disadvantage you are in without an established group to play with and that cutthroat races don't give points.

I really like the one week race idea, now come with a solo one :)

And good luck to all :)

You still sound convinced that its supposed something everyone can reasonably get. Its not. Its like participating in the olympics, how many athletes try their hardest and fail to get in at all? Thehigh tier rewards are like qualification prizes while end of season demis are just like the gold medal award. If you want incentive for doing these races thats why they have low tier rewards

You sound equally convinced that your interpretation of the rewards are the correct one, again I'll simply say the following. If only the top players are supposed to be able to get the 1000 point reward why not just give it to the top, 10..15...20...25 pick your number, players at the end of the season?

Edit: The top players have Demi's for each race, the absolute top gets specific Demi's at the end of the season and now you're trying to claim that they are the only once that's supposed to get the top tier point rewards as well. Do you even want any other than the top 100 players participating in the races? I fail to see why they should be motivated with any and all rewards being catered to the absolute top with established groups to play with.

Also comparing PoE racing with Olympics...really?

Now having that said, I like the concept of racing. I totally stand by GGG as a developer, they are great. I just think they screwed the pooch with the balance of time and effort vs reward this season.

Hell while I disagree with their decision to have this race be hardcore over onslaught I can respect their reasoning to stand by their word regarding the anarchy/onslaught not getting any other leagues merged in to them.
