Petrov's Elemental Bow Ranger Build(s) (0.10)

Sorry for all the questions, but if I have LA with the support skill elemental damage, but if I want to add life on hit aswell, do I have to find some gear with 2 red sockets linked with a green one, or can I add two LA skills to two separate red/green linked items?
think this build is nice, not sure whether it's mainly meant for HC or not, but it's a nice build regardless, i have done some adjustments to mine from this
I don't care what the world says.
I'll love you lauren for the rest of my life.
Fuck the haters.
I was having a very difficult time in act 3 - having to kite mobs giant distances to kill them, dieing a lot, etc.

Then I hit level 35, which allowed me to equip a very nice bow I had been saving (I bought it for the price of one alchemy from a very nice person). I was doing a lot more damage, but still have mana issues.

Then I hit level 36, got blood magic, got a life on hit from a friend, and everything changed: suddenly packs of mobs were melting before me, and my health stayed at max. I was able to take down bosses with ease due to the fast attack speed (1.71) of my bow.

I'm currently finishing up Act 3 Normal using this build, and I strongly recommend it. It was difficult for me at first, but once you get to blood magic, get life on hit & LMP on lightning arrow, as well as a decent bow, it gets very fun.

Thanks a million, Petrov!
Thank you very much OP for the very good thread.
I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

Is this build viable with death's harp?

Currently only problem i have in "tankier + shock stacking" build is i don't have enough int to level up my aura gems.

Same problem for me, had to go 3 points off the track for the 30 int node north of blood magic and wearing a int amulet + more int on gear to use wrath :(

i've been lvling all my gems now im at the point where I am not losing or gaining life when casting ele hit or LA so its not a good thing since i have to rely on pots if i get hit

edit: since i havent taken any of the nodes above perfect aim i am just going to switch to the tank dps build since i need the life regen against bosses and what not

Are you using LMP with Lightning Arrow? It costs me 53 at level 58 right now... It hits 3 mob, which all splash and hit each other. Which means each mob(if there are 3) gets hit 9 times. If you use Projectile Weakness, which causes I think 50% to pierce, you can get even more, with more mobs. It's insane. You can hit the same mob like 15x each gaining ~35 HP from Life Gain on Hit gem per hit.

I was going to use Life Leech instead of Life Gain on Hit because I do 1400 DPS with Lightning Arrow, but since Life Leech has a cap of 20% max hp/sec, I don't think it's worth it. I'd gain WAY more hp, but it'd be slow. And since I die very fast(need to pick up the next 15 points worth of health nodes I'm next to), I take half of my hp when I'm hit, then gain well over half of it back in 1 shot.

When I use Elemental Hit, I lose a tiny bit of HP(like ~40) but with my % life gain and % physical damage life leeches, it's not a big deal. Sadly, my physical damage is SO low that my gear with life leech on it barely helps because it's only % physical damage to leech.

Any mobs with Elemental Reflect I just use bear trap on, then hit 1-2 times and flask up. The only things that kill me right now are elemental using mobs. I'm sacrificing like 500 DPS on each of my skills to gain a bit more resists, it's making a very big difference while barely losing any damage.

The only time I use flasks is on single targets or reflect mobs though. Otherwise I just lightning arrow to full HP.

Hi everyone,

It's been a while I read all the comments from this post. Now I want to try saying something that might help ^^.

I wonder if Iron Grip is worth it, as we usually go for the 3*10% elemental damages that are just on top of it, taking 2 points to get it wouldn't be a real problem. I can cut it off by going near the golem's blood, but I don't know if it's really worth it (IG vs GB, who wins in late gear ?).

Otherwise, from all the comments, I see that the two mains passive groups are Static blows and Inner force (with the few other interesting points nearby). Which one is the best, or is having both really interesting as it costs points (usually life) to reach both ?

I made some builds, based on what you proposed (they all have all skills assigned, but a lot of life/resist/elemental damages can be unassigned, depending on what you need, this is only a final an ideal goal) :

Spoiler
Build 1

Shock duration (and more), but no buff boost. Reaching all the main 3*10% elemental damages, then maxing life + resist.

It has :
+60 Life
+260% Max life
384 STR
190 DEX
94 INT
+120% Elemental damage
+36% All resist
+48% Fire resist
+18% Cold resist
+5% to Max all resist
+45% Shock duration
+20% Shock on lightning damage
+0% Increased effects of buffs
+25% IAS
+31% Projectile damage
+48% Evasion rating
+1.5% Life regeneration
Passives :
Iron Reflex
Unwavering Stance
Blood Magic
Iron Grip
Resolute Technique

Spoiler
Build 2

Both shock duration (and more), and buff boost are reached. Sacrifice of a few life points (~30%) and life regeneration. It still have a good life pool and the greater amount of damage (well, I think so...) of what I'll post.

It has :
+60 Life
+232% Max life
354 STR
210 DEX
114 INT
+120% Elemental damage
+36% All resist
+48% Fire resist
+18% Cold resist
+5% to Max all resist
+45% Shock duration
+20% Shock on lightning damage
+30% Increased effects of buffs
+25% IAS
+31% Projectile damage
+48% Evasion rating
+0% Life regeneration

Passives :
Iron Reflex
Unwavering Stance
Blood Magic
Iron Grip
Resolute Technique

Spoiler
Build 3

No shock duration (and more), but reach the buff boost. Got nearly the same amount of life than the first build, but no life regeneration.

It has :
+60 Life
+256% Max life
354 STR
210 DEX
104 INT
+120% Elemental damage
+36% All resist
+48% Fire resist
+18% Cold resist
+5% to Max all resist
+0% Shock duration
+0% Shock on lightning damage
+30% Increased effects of buffs
+25% IAS
+31% Projectile damage
+48% Evasion rating
+0% Life regeneration

Passives :
Iron Reflex
Unwavering Stance
Blood Magic
Iron Grip
Resolute Technique

Spoiler
Build 4

Same as the 3rd build, but instead of taking Iron Grip, we go to this part by the south and reach the golem's blood (+ the %life). Less damages because of no Iron Grip, but a few more life / STR / life regeneration.

It has :
+60 Life
+260% Max life
374 STR
210 DEX
104 INT
+120% Elemental damage
+36% All resist
+48% Fire resist
+18% Cold resist
+5% to Max all resist
+0% Shock duration
+0% Shock on lightning damage
+30% Increased effects of buffs
+25% IAS
+31% Projectile damage
+48% Evasion rating
+1.5% Life regeneration

Passives :
Iron Reflex
Unwavering Stance
Blood Magic
Resolute Technique

We can also change the path from east to west of the 2nd build, to reach the golem's blood (but not the +28% life) to replace Iron grip, but don't know if it's worth it or not. (something like this)

Once again, this is "ideal" build you'll never reach, I know that. The point is that there is a main route with bonuses on the side (life / resist / elemental damages / ...). You take these bonuses if you feel you need them, otherwise, you come back to them later when you have all you need (e.g. you alway party and don't need much life -> skip all +x% life and get all the damage passive. When you reach lvl 70-80+, start taking all those +% life you left on the way to damages). I insist on this in order not to have useless comments like "you'll never reach it, your build is useless !!!".

Hope this will be helpful.

Im suggesting u avoid going for resolute technique from left and up of Blood magic but continue str8 up then left.

Take this build as a starter and modify it according to ur needs. For higher dps add more elemental nodes to the north close to elementalist and / or celestial walker or u can even go further up to grab inner force and / or static blows by removing some hp or res nodes. You get a bunch of str, dex, res and life along with life reg along the way. Theres 2 more available 30+ int nodes on the way! You can also take the two steel skin nodes if u wanna be more tanky for 102% more armor! You can add 3 more frenzy charges easily if u decide to go for kraylin kill on merciless and get the frenzy charge for a total of 4. You can even reroute it to get leather and steel and fury bolts! This basic build offers good res and life along with decent dmg and can be easily modified to any player's needs and eqq.

This build's total bonuses are:

+334 str
+200 dex
+44 int
+60 max life + 190% more life + 4% life reg
+60% elemental resistances and 5% more max
+48% evation rating
+25% attack speed
+31% projectile dmg
+110% elemental dmg
+12% accuracy

You also get:

Iron Reflexes at level 15-20
Unwavering Stance at level 25-30
Blood Magic at level 35-40
Iron Grip at level 45-50
Resolute Technique at level 55-60

I didn't provide any variations of this build since there are too many available. If u wish i can provide some by request! Thanks for taking the time to read! Hope this helps!

You need 1 piece with Green(lightning arrow), red(life gain on hit) and green(lesser multiple projectiles) all linked. I highly suggest a 4 link with 2 red and 2 green so you can use weapon elemental damage. The DPS increase is massive and will make it more worthwhile than just having a rare piece with good stats and only 3 links on it. 4 linked chest pieces are dirt cheap as the max is 5-6. Once you get 5 I suggest Faster Attacks, I'm so happy I finally got a 5th link, I do SO much more damage.

This build started off being awful and I regretted it. But I ended up respeccing my points from damage/dex/heading toward iron grip to skip it and just rush Blood Magic. Since then, I have felt overpowered and unstoppable to an extent. It's a very good build. I'm doing the first build on his list of 5 or whatever. I'm almost to static blows, then I'll be grabbing as many health nodes as I can and trying to get resists on all my gear. I kill ridiculously fast right now though, I'm just lacking survivability against lightning/cold/chaos mobs, which I kill before they hit me unless they are a unique or rare with additional life/energy shield.

For the curse What do you think ? Projectile weakness or conducity ?

I'm noticing that lightning resist mobs in merciless aren't really an issue for me. Projectile Weakness is amazing though. The pierce alone is awesome and the damage increase on single target rares/bosses is unbeatable IMO.
