Then it would be a function of either not enough levels on your life leech or, more probably, not enough DPS.

It's probably best to get the weapon elemental damage nodes as soon as possible, to boost your damage. Once your damage is beefed up, then go for the life nodes and Blood Magic towards the end of the build. That way you'll have a) enough damage b) a high level life leech, and c) lots of +life nodes so that your pool of hp is relatively high.

Also, for those aspiring to more DPS, note this bow being sold (not by me!) on the trade forum: this is a pretty sick pre-patch bow which you very rarely see now. If you have the orbs to spare, go for it:

The reason is that lightning arrow (or LA for short) gets a lot more expensive to use in terms of mana as you level it, with the only benefit being shiock related and not pure DPS related. People usually level it to level 5, but not usually thereafter unless they have a lot of mana (or life if they use Blood Magic) to spare.

I must've missed something somewhere - how do I STOP a gem from levelling? I just tried to re-equip my bow with a new Lighning gem (the old one was now level 10), but in 2 minutes the new one was up to level 5....
