Petrov's Elemental Bow Ranger Build(s) (0.10)
" Cause I didn't know a full respec was coming at the time. Ohwell it gave me insight into what I want to do with my character. http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIBAdECcQSzCC4MfQ48Dq0QfxQgFE0UcRjbGS4Zjhm0GjgdFCFgJ-0otSmlLOkyCTKJNZI26TpSQKBDnEp9TshQR1BQVElVxlYEVvpXDVfiWGNZ81uvXz9giGFSZp5noGe9dPF253flhmCHdozPj0aQCpBVm42boZ7Nn8uiAKJApwinMKeErKqv67iTud2-p8APwBrEosaextjK082Yz2XQ0NIh0k3TftSP2WHdDd7G37_jaudS6mLsOO2D7g7ub-8O707wH_Iv8930-PZI-rH60vzF Someone take a look at that. I think that will give me more DPS and HP than going the iron grip route. Wish it wasn't so expensive to test. |

Does the upcoming patch change something to those different builds here?
I'm mostly interested in the "tankier + shock stacking + inner force" build (0.10.0):" Build. |
|
I have a question. I am currently a lvl 79 soon to be 80 LA ranger who is saving up on exalteds to afford better stuff. But i am not to sure of what i should be getting... I hear that lionseye is superb for LA rangers in endgame and i do feel like getting atleast a 5L one. But is it worth it?
Here is my current gear: |

" Inner force is getting a massive nerf, I know I will be speccing out of it. It just won't be that useful with only 3 auras. |

hey petrov,
wanted to say thanks on the great guide, i'm using the most popular build as my main. me, and i bet a lot of others, are wondering if/when you plan to modify the builds based on patch 0.11. if not a complete new guide, any general tips for those who went with the most popular build? spec out of inner force, take more life nodes, etc? |

Hey Petrov (and everyone else that could help),
My LA ranger is level 81, and I had been following the "most popular" build with great success, with only a couple of small tweaks so I could have enough dex/int for my gear. So this is her current build: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIABLMFLQguDH0OPA6tEH8UIBRNFHEY2xkuGY4aOB0UIWAn7Si1KU8ppTIJMok1kjbpOlJAoEGqQ5xKfU7IUEdQUFRJVcZWBFb6V-JYY1nzW69fP2BLYIhhUmOnZp5noGe9cql07XTxd-V673zZgpuGYId2jM-PRpAKkFWbjZuhnrmfy6IApwinMKeErKqv67iTud3AGsaextjPZdDQ037Uj9rd3Q3dRt-_51LsOO2D7g7ub-8O707wH_Iv8932SPcy-Ov60vxO_MXjag== Now, given the 0.11 patch, I was wondering if it would be worth it to trade off a few life nodes (which supposedly are less effective) for more armor (supposedly more effective) and a little more DPS. This is what I came up with: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIAr-ubjQguGY7tg9N-NZJOyO4OVvrdRmOn_E78xWegh3ZKfd0NkApbrxjbQ5wOrSmldPGeuSFgQKDvTjIJBS1gS3rvdO0otWCIVamXtKy6YVKfy1YEhmA6Ut-_DjwUcacwFCBQR0Gq-Ov3MnKpfNmsqiftGS7Uj7nd8i_vDmebKS58uD38WGPG2FnzwBpmnpBVp4QaOOw4V-J35TKJBLMUTaIAKU-Cm_rSNunjah0Uj0bQ0JuhZ73ub6cIuJMMfRB_xp4B0fT4okDEog== Here's the tradeoff: old build: 1.9% life regen, 18% life, elemental adaptation, 10 dex new build: 31% projectile damage, 93% armor, 2% movement speed I'm no theorycrafter, but that doesn't look like a bad tradeoff to me. My main issue is that I can't really tell how much difference that 93% armor would make (especially regarding charging mobs, which are one of the main threats to this build - I mostly play solo). I also kept Inner Force since I don't think the nerf is *that* bad. Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you. Last edited by Faldrath#4030 on Jun 7, 2013, 3:30:15 PM

@Faldrath:
According to wiki the formular for Damage Reduction by Armour Rating (AR) is: " That means that Armour gets less effective the higher the incoming damage. In addition it is capped at 90%. Source: http://en.pathofexilewiki.com/wiki/Armour On another wiki page, there is a table that shows how much armour you need to get how much reduction against monsters up to lvl 68: http://en.pathofexilewiki.com/wiki/Monster_Damage Those values are just for normal monsters average attacjs. Crit, mods (monster and map), magic/rare/unique bonus, etc. may raise that value. Let's assume that the monsters you are fighting hit for 750-1000 damage: for 750 damage hits: 2k AR -> 18.18% -> 81,81% damage taken 5k AR -> 32,71% -> 67,29% damage taken (~18% better than 2k) 10k AR -> 52,63% -> 47,37% damage taken (~29% better than 5k) 15k AR -> 62,5% -> 37,5% damage taken (~21% better than 10k) 20k AR -> 68,97% -> 31,03% damage taken (~27% better than 15k) 25k AR -> 73,53% -> 26,47% damage taken (~15% better than 20k) for 1000 damage hits: 5k AR -> 29,41% -> 70,59% damage taken 10k AR -> 45,45% -> 55,55% damage taken (~21% better than 5k) 15k AR -> 50% -> 50% damage taken (~10% better than 10k) 20k AR -> 62,5% -> 37,5% damage taken ( 25% better than 15k) 25k AR -> 67,57% -> 32,43% damage taken (~15% better than 20k) Assuming your armour right now is around 5k and you don't have a lot of % armour in the old spec, i guess you should take about 15-20% less physical damage with the respec. PS: This formular is really interesting! Even after calculating quite a few situations, i still have only a very rough idea of how effective armour is o.O |

Aha, thanks for that. I decided to take the plunge and respec anyway... and, of course, discovered afterwards that I had failed to count an extra 22% health in my comparison. I gained 3k armor, about 200-400 DPS depending on skill, but lost some 500 life. And, weirdly enough, my life regen dropped from 120/s to around 50/s, which I can't readily explain.
So now I'm a glass cannon! Which, at least so far, makes the game exciting, but we'll see how long I can keep up with that :) |

it would be nice if the op updated this some day
