Petrov's Elemental Bow Ranger Build(s) (0.10)

Should I be going for Ev gear or armor or does it matter?

Generally Eva, as Eva armour delivers higher nominal values which are then converted into Armour via Iron Reflexes.
What is the reason of taking resolute techniques? We have good amount of dex and who doesnt like crits?

The build branches into Strength (Templar and Marauder) area where the HP nodes, as well as other desirable nodes are. And HP keeps you alive. Thus the lack of Dex and the availability of Strength. You will need RT to hit.

Shock status from Lightning damage will compliment the crit deficiency.

Not enough - you'll have a 75ish% hit chance which isn't compensated by the crit chance. If you end up massively outlevelling content, then you could consider dropping RT.

Only for EVA :)
Not because slighty higher values of ev on items, but because of bonuses for eva that you have from passives.

In shock build at lvl 80 you will have:
+240 to Dexterity (only from passives) that is +48% evasion.
and +48% increased Evasion Rating

with items it should be more than +100% Eva rating.

Also armor items will slow you down...

Ofcourse there can be exceptions :)
Im using those boots atm:

Additional curse can do wonders and +all res is also good.

The shock status will compliment crits with only 2 passives @20% chance ? I guess it does...

All your variations are excellent builds. I've personally chosen to use an often neglected path to achieve a "tankier" build. It sacrifices almost no damage, while giving access to even more life, and a lot more armor.

I am sure you can do better in proving sustainable crit chances is better or how I am wrong. Good to learn too.

Here's what I thought.

How often can you crit? Let's say one out of four (25%) hits? Then try to crit again in the next 4 hits? How many passive are you going to invest on crits?

However, once you shock one mob. One out of five (20%) hits, he stay shocked (for a good few sec) and all subsequent damage the mob received is increased by 40%. But wait, that's one shock, you can stack up to 3 shock (attack speed =)). 3 stack of shock deals 220% damage. But usually they within sec after first shock. Best of all, I only need 2 passive.

I'm curious how crit would be better too. Please share, especially when using a bow instead of a dagger/sword and the lack of Dex in this build.

Is elemental hit or frenzy better for single target? Or is it just personal preference?

I'm just wondering because I'm a level 60 ranger (doing great btw, thanks for the build) in Act2 Merci and I'm trying to decide if I should get the extra frenzy charge, or get a skillpoint and try to get elemental hit.
