[1.1] Davos Seaworth's Elemental Split Arrow Build - Solo every map with ease!
Been playing this build and am having a lot of fun. Thank you for the time you put in. I bought a tabula rasa to get 6L on my SA, DPS is high but I'm starting to die a bit due to lack of armor/hp (I believe).
Do I go back to my old armor and try to farm up enough currency in order to afford a proper 6L armor? I am able to run nearly all mobs normally until Map Level 70, but bosses starting at 68 require a trip to town before bringing them down. Old Armor: Current Setep: My stats are as follows (tooltip, taken out of town with Auras): Life: 4459 Armor: 6731 (43% reduction) Resists: 72/77/73 SA DPS: 4140 Frenzy DPS: 6000 I seem to be pretty squishy since going to the TR. Let me know what I need to do in order to get into 70+ maps. |

" Do you mind sharing your Build that is 100% more effective by spending 25 regrets. I´m actually intrested because you kept on talking for so long how you had problems with rares and that after respecing everything is better, yet you don´t post your better version :/ MFG Transom |

" In my opinion, Davos still has the superior build. In reality, I think that the skillgrimage to Static isn't all that bad. You get the life ring, then Resolute, then templar life with Catalyze, then Sovereignty which makes this ELEMENTAL split arrow build viable, and finally more life and then Static. Resolute IS good, since bows have very low crit chance. This makes it so that if you want to crit with bows, you really need to invest in the nodes and probably go power charges. Furthermore, with the the aura nodes Davos picks up, you get to run 3 auras. If you were to get only the aura cluster by Ranger, you could only run 2 auras, thus dropping Grace or Anger. However, I would like to see what Iconik thinks of my analysis. Also, what's your crit chance currently? " I'd stick with the TR instead of that silly 4L chest. The main problem I'm seeing is a lack of lightning damage (and the fact that you have several pieces of gear with no life). Your resists really need to be capped as well. But most importantly, you need lightning damage. Because of this you're probably not shocking mobs nearly as much as you could be. I assume that Frenzy dps is without charges? 6k is really low. You need to have Frenzy on at least a 5L, and a 20% quality Frenzy helps a lot! Especially with 4-5 max frenzy charges. This build's biggest weakness is definitely its single target dps, but there are ways to make it viable. I'm not playing my duelist right now, but when I was, I had no problem taking down lvl 77 map bosses relatively quickly. Elemental Hit was a great way to increase your single target dps with this build until they nerfed it. But unfortunately Frenzy was designed with physical damage in mind. Still, if you get a quality Frenzy, the sheer amount of attack speed should be enough to where you can put out some good damage, granted you have enough lightning damage to induce shock. By the way, your quiver is awesome. Definitely hang onto that! IGN: EmpathicAmoeba Last edited by DavosTheOnionKnight#4564 on Jan 3, 2014, 2:26:04 PM

" I can't really compare an 83 point build to a 105 point build, but you're right about many things. Static Blows is relatively far (though not that far) but you don't need to spend too many +10 nodes to get there. Have you ever seen a build made by one of the famous POE players like Kripp? Some of those builds go all over the place, yet are still arguably the most effective. Duelist is the most effective class for a static blows elemental split arrow build, potentially with the exception of scion. Templar would waste too many points, as would witch, and I don't believe in using the marauder starting nodes. Next closest class to static blows is duelist. If you have a 15% crit chance and an 85% hit chance, I'm still shocking far more than you. Having a 100% chance to hit is a big deal. And you must realize that if you're missing 15% of the time, and 15% of your hits are critting, you're probably doing less dps than you would be doing with 100% hit chance, though this does depend on crit multiplier. Yet the fact remains that an attack that misses cannot leech back life. This is a big deal for LGOH which is not limited by a regen rate cap like Life Leech is. There are a lot of great passives on the way to Static Blows... Elemental Adaptation, some of the best life nodes on the tree, the best WED nodes, aura nodes allowing you to run 3 auras as well as immensely boosting your dps via Anger/Wrath and not to mention bonus armor from Grace. Then, finally, Static Blows. Never judge a build that requires at least lvl 80 to go into full effect when you've only played it to level 60. This is a 105 point build. You can't criticize it when you've only put 83 points into it. The guy who was criticizing the build probably didn't have Static Blows yet, or a full set of the recommended gear. IGN: EmpathicAmoeba

Thanks for the response/follow up. I swapped in a new ring which gave me more life 4700, 77 all-res and added lightning dmg, but dropped tooltip dps just a hair. I guess I need to find a bow with lightning dmg.
Also, frenzy is 6300 unbuffed, 8400 after. I only have the three stacks. I also hit level 20 on all my gems so I'm now leveling them at q20, most are around 15/16. After about level 85/86, where did you look to spend points? |

Hi guys,
So this is my setup right now at level 86:

I didn't take the extra resists yet or am I using many defensive skills because I don't have enough to get into higher level maps. I'm mainly running up to 75 right now. Because I have a physical bow with high attack speed, I'm running Hatred instead of Haste. Here are my stats with Anger, Hatred, and Wrath, but 0 frenzy charges: Split Arrow: 5400 Frenzy: 13093.2 Health: 4066 Armor: 4897 Resists (overcapped): 93/80/80/-52 I've found that my Split arrow can get up to 8k without frenzy if I had a 6L bow or chest. So, I'm wondering if someone with a Voltaxic Rift or a really nice tri-ele bow could tell me what the damage difference is. I just want to know if it is worth the investment to go improve my weapon first or my other gear. Thanks. |

" Your damage stats are very impressive considering your lack of a 6L. It's unfortunate that you had to drop so many life nodes though. I'm never comfortable running lvl 77+ maps without at least 5.7k life. I would highly recommend you replace Life Leech with LGOH. And since you're using an LG, if you want some extra leech, pick up an amulet, ring or pair of gloves with some life leech. But as it stands, LGOH works much better than LL for Split Arrow + Chain, plus it's an instant heal. Voltaxic Rift is unquestionably the #1 bow you can use for this build. A tri-ele thicket bow with 100% perfect rolls would have maybe 10 less elemental dps than a perfect Voltaxic Rift. And while the thicket bow would be about 0.15 APS faster, the Voltaxic Rift has the benefits of being pure lightning damage, 10% extra chance to shock, and conversion to chaos damage which has obvious benefits of its own. Hi Davos, I'm fairly new to the games so forgive any ignorance of my question.
Why with an elemental build didn't you take Elemental Equilibrium? It's only 4 points off your path. Is there some reason that it's not beneficial to this build? Also forgive if this has already been discussed, I tried to search but it didn't come up with any results. |
