[1.1] Davos Seaworth's Elemental Split Arrow Build - Solo every map with ease!
I'm glad it's coming together for you man. What kind of maps have you been running? Once your resists are capped and you get a bit more life you should have no trouble running lvl 74+ maps. You should have the dps for it at least. My split arrow dps is actually down to about 2850 without frenzy charges after changing a couple pieces of gear for more armor and life and in turn losing some elemental damage, and I can still destroy lvl 75-76 maps. Lvl 77 maps I struggle with the dps a little bit (well, I shouldn't say struggle, but I don't roflstomp them the way I do in lvl 74 maps) but that's to be expected. Mobs in lvl 77 maps have a ridiculous amount of life.

" I'm only doing 1500 SA DPS. I got WED on my quiver tho. trying to get some more upgrades for DPS - next is my amulet, I got a new helm, so I need to find a WED, fire res, life lapiz/onyx. Here's my gear now.

Well, it looks like that new bow is BiS for this build, congrats to whoever gets it first, please let us know how it is working out.

" Dafuq.... When it says 100% of lightning damage converted to chaos, does that mean that you deal total? or just from the bow? Having an extar 10% chance to shock is redic.. wow. Mess with the best, die like the rest.

Here's my understanding:
It will convert all lightning damage to chaos -- there is no chaos reflect, so no problems with reflected damage -- will not play well with curses (i guess temporal chains would be the best, which would be good for party play anyway, I guess) -- obviously will work very well with Thunderfists and should also stack with Static Blows (so lots of shock stacking) -- not super fast, so you lose a little life sustain " I haven't been running any maps. I actually have about ~50 66 maps in my stash (my other character never got his resits set as well as I needed), so I'll be trying to build up a good base of maps as soon as I get my resists sorted a little better. I'm hoping to tear through some maps soon. |

" I think elemental weakness is still the best option, as long as you have some fire and cold damage on other pieces of gear and from Anger. But as far as defensive curses go, I prefer Enfeeble. The duration on TC is too short (5.5 seconds at max level? lol ridiculous) compared to Enfeeble which has a 14 second duration. When you have to stop and recast every 5 seconds on a boss like Oak or Blacksmith, things can get hairy, because you're practically bound to get hit at least once which may be all it takes to kill you with the right map mods. But with Enfeeble, if you have at least 4k life there's no way anything will one-shot you. If you want to use TC, I suppose you could link a 20/20 Increased Duration gem to it which would double its duration to 11 seconds, which is only 3 seconds shorter than Enfeeble. That is assuming Increased Duration works with curses; I've never tried it. IGN: EmpathicAmoeba Last edited by DavosTheOnionKnight#4564 on Aug 21, 2013, 4:26:53 PM

My question is... will the damage be converted after, or before the elemental weapon damage bonuses from gear/passive is taken into consideration? If so, a lot of DPS will be lost imo.

" Sooo... what's the downside of this bow? lol - kind of a must have for LA/shocking bow builds it seems. Nutty. Mess with the best, die like the rest.

" I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "must have". That's like saying Lioneye's Glare is a must have for LA builds. Wait... it pretty much is.. nevermind. However my point is that while Lioneye's is pretty much best-in-slot for LA or physical based bow builds, it's not required. You can get thicket or imperial bows with just as much (or more) physical dps. Voltaxic Rift is 283 dps. My bow is 255 dps, but it lacks increased attack speed. If my bow had an attack speed of 1.70, it would be 280 dps which is almost identical to Voltaxic Rift. A really good elemental thicket bow can get to around 330 dps. With this bow, I think the 10% shock chance and the reduced risk of dying to elemental reflect are the biggest draws. But as Andaval already mentioned, you will suffer a dps loss from not having any beneficial curse to use. Elemental Weakness isn't going to do much for you with this bow. Projectile Weakness will prevent your shots from chaining half the time. The only other curse left is Conductivity for the increased shock chance, but I'm not sure if that would work since the damage is converted to chaos. Elemental Weakness is a HUGE dps increase. If you've used it I'm sure you've noticed how much more damage you do to cursed enemies. With all that said, if I found this new bow I'm sure I would use it. But I don't think I'd pay for one. And you can still get by with a regular ol' elemental thicket bow just fine. IGN: EmpathicAmoeba Last edited by DavosTheOnionKnight#4564 on Aug 21, 2013, 10:40:17 PM
