Invalesco, how do u think the open beta changes are going to affect this ES reliant build?
They are nerfing Chaos inoculation to NOT give any ES anymore.. that's a 50% ES loss.

Any thoughts?

Plenty of thoughts. My conclusion is that this build will still be viable, although not so much in HC earlier on. However, it will also be much harder than it already is. I will however attempt to make things simpler by giving you guys more specific instructions on when to respec into CI. Stay tuned for updates!

Wouldn't sacrificing a small number of dps nodes for some extra ES nodes make up for some of the loss?
I know there isn't enough nodes to make up for the loss of the whopping 50%, but still 20-30% could be retaken?

I'm thankful that I managed to complete this build previously at only level 72.
With the increase in the number of skill points to use now as well as the higher level areas, reaching higher levels and having a higher number of skill points will now be much easier as well yes.

That said, even spending another 12 points or so on ES points will not make up for the whopping 50%. I've already made the final build, will just wait for OB to hit before posting it here, but here's a sneak preview on the differences it will have compared to this current build:

1. More ES nodes will be taken, but I still expect overall Max ES to be lower
2. DPS nodes will not be compromised. If anything, this build will be more fun and deal much higher DPS as compared to before because I will be taking more DPS nodes.
3. Offense will end up being the best Defense. Vaal Pact will now be taken.
4. Inner Force will be taken.
5. Warlord's Mark will be the curse of choice for this build.

Do you really consider CI to be a worthwhile investment after the nerf? Is immunity to chaos damage worth losing all your health for (given that you also have to invest points to actually get to CI)?
I was wondering, would it make any sense to skip the CI and instead grab some dual wielding nodes for a dual crit dagger Shadow?
I would be very interested in a dual crit dagger shadow .....i am more into a physical build since i would like to get this as close as possible to a assassin rogue so no spells or anything .. if anyone could make a build where i do not have to spam LS the whole game i would really appreciate it ..or maybe if you have time Invalesco ...you can do it..or any type of build that does not use a Shield and goes for Twin Terrors etc ..

Thanks in Advance
Just want to give a big thanks to you Invalesco. With the games I have played competitively over the years, I have always played at a high standard but after seeing the passive tree for the first time, I knew I had my work cut out with this one! I only recently joined the beta and had played D2 for years and unfortunately, the very dissapointing D3 and I was ready to dive in. So, after seeing the passive tree calculator I was overwhelmed to say the least! I loved it but at the same time I was worried I wouldn't get my head around it before OB as I only had a few days to play. I'm not usually one to take interest in other people's builds as I like building my own, but with the little knowledge I had of PoE I found myself looking through your guidelines to try and get a firm grasp of the game in a short amount of time. Like I said I have only had a few days to play so I will need to change things up over the next few weeks and create some builds myself. After making a few builds and looking relatively happy to start OB a lot has been changed with the patch notes and it has set me back a little. What i'm trying to say is, I and probably many others, really appreciate the help, the passive tree is huge and very intimidating when you first look at it, but after a few days of reading through your guides and trying things out with a couple of 30ish chars I feel like I now have a decent understanding and look forward to making some strong builds in the months ahead. Keep up the good work, but I think you deserve a break! Enjoy OB all ;]
Want full build please, only 2 hours left !!! =p
Btw, youre not a streamer are you?

Hey Invalesco! Awesome guide! really gives me hope that melee and especially melee shadow is viable/awesome. Will be trying this. Had a quick question:

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I can't find it on the thread, what are the implications of the Lightning Strike adjustment to not hitting with the melee AND projectile component at the same time anymore? Is it a 50% dmg nerf or did I understand the change incorrectly?

Thanks!

Invalesco didn't use LS for single target. So that bug fix didn't affect anything. He uses double strike for single target
updated for OB! Sorry but I might be slow in replying forum threads atm, got a few guides I need to update so do bear with me, cheers!
