This is a fairly stupid question, but oh well. I got Lightning Strike on my Templar and rolled Shadow, and it says I need Str, but the skill tree doesn't branch off into Str. Do I look for gear with strength?

I was wondering what the main advantages of a dagger vs claw with this build? The extra life leech nodes with claws looks enticing with ghost reaver.

Yup that's one downside to using LS as a shadow, the need for strength. I usually don't level my LS past a certain level if I don't have enough Str for it. Mine is level 13 atm. The inability to level past a certain level won't matter that much as the change in DPS isn't that large. But yes if you want to level it past your Str cap you'll need gear with +str :)

If what you're talking about is using LS at an early level, what you can do is go straight for the Fitness node just next to the nullification cluster. You'll reach it at level 11 so you won't be that far behind since the level req for LS is 10 if i remember correctly.

They do :) Daggers mainly provide more DPS while Claws provide more Leech. It depends on which one you prefer and what your playstyle is like!

Made a shadow yesterday, was amazingly fun. Died at level 24, after steam rolling everything.

No kind of claws can hit the DPS of your dagger huh? Also, how well does leech work with energy shield? Is it instant? Because it would seem that would be really OP in PVP depending how tanky you are.

thanks! and dagger DPS tends to be higher because the implicit provides increased critical chance, which will synergize better with a crit-based build. Leech depends on your maximum hp or ES. If you're a hp build, you can only leech a maximum of 20% of your maximum HP per second. If you're CI, you can only leech a maximum of 20% of your maximum ES per second.

Hence, the higher your ES, the more instantaneous leech will seem for you

died in cruel but it's the furthest i've gone since i started playing 2 days ago!

i just had a few questions.

i think i messed up by not getting phase run and never had one drop, but was still able to run through zones fairly easily.

when leveling you said to use dual strike but i chose freezing pulse instead at the beginning, do you just level another shadow to get it? also for using fire trap should i again choose that on another shadow? i just winged it for a while until i died to black death =/. should i have had more hp nodes? or +hp max on my gear for that? now i know that i can die that quick it won't happen next time but i feel like it takes me forever to progress.

i don't know if it's because i'm still new to get game or maybe it's because i stay in zones too long. my normal a1 run goes like kill hillock, pick up freezing pulse, run all the way through and do glyph wall (should i choose viper strike from this over everything else?)/run to ledge and get the wp then do medecine chest for phase run, then farm ledge to 9, then kill brutus.

after brutus i'll run to cove and farm that for a few levels (15ish) and go kill merv. what i did on this shadow was choose crit damage and put it with viper strike (should have used it on double maybe?) i stacked armor the best i could.. never really dual wielded and went with 1h/shield the whole time. once i kill merv i would run to fellshrine ruins and farm that for a few levels then finish the rest of a2 pretty easily. is this how it is normally done? i felt okay going through it on normal and cruel but i didn't realize how quick blackdeath would kill me.

i know i wrote a lot and appreciate the time anybody has taken out of their day to read this but i'm still not entirely sure what i am doing. i followed the guide the best i could and felt i had some direction (i ended up choosing some of the life nodes because i was lacking it.. had about 900 or so when i was 33?) i know i played poorly when i died and probably should have kited blackdeath more but i didn't know he'd kill me that quick haha.

those times i'm grinding levels in fellshrine/ledge etc should i farm those a little bit more maybe until i find decent gear? i'm still entirely lost with when i should use my augmentation/trans orbs.. i know i'm asking a lot of noob questions but my goal right now is to be able to farm maps before the end of the year and i think i've progressed quite a bit.. only made 2 characters.

Hey invalesco. When my buddy found this. I turned this Shadow into a modified build of yours.

I did more damage as a totem / fp pure crit multiplier spark / ice spear build.

But, I must say, the build is quite awesome and a lot of fun to use. Of course, the great thing about POE, are the minor tweaks to make our characters more personal, under the circumstances of items that we currently have.

I will QQ when OB starts, because I'll be losing the dagger, but it's definitely something fun to try before we get wiped.

Again, big props to you, and see you in the races.

P.s. Add me to the Throne of top 10 Shadows, 60 currently, I'll get higher.
