I am tired. I love this build, always have. I've been playing it on hardcore, died multiple times in merciless, never caring about the next thing. The only thing that bothered me was dying to desync. So I went domination now. I know it's hard to build this character without any currency..
The items are expensive, the gear is important. But I'm level 74 now, farmed sarn city from 60 to 73 and went one level up in maps. I've been grinding maps for a week now, I keep dying, so I don't even transmute them anymore. Today was the last drop.. Played 4 hours, 0 currency worth of orbs or items and went down 5% of my 77% xp bar. 1 week! 0 progress. I'm really trying here, but I just don't get any currency to up my gear so I can play with my mates. They are all 85 now, we started together.
I just don't know what to do anymore. I have in this whole week 20 chaos orbs stashed up, just to buy a 5L Vaal Regalia to craft an ES chest with some resistances or anything. Any tips guys, anything, so I can get out of this hell.
Cheers.
I don't know the prices on domination, but I'd just save and buy an ES chestpiece, you could probably get a non linked one with 5-600 ES for a relatively cheap price, and then at least 4L it yourself. Or you could keep farming and buy a 5L 6-700 ES chestpiece when you'll have enough. You can just farm Piety with a IIR/IIQ gem and vendor all the trash, it's probably more cost effective than running maps.
Try to change you headpiece too, get at least an ES or hybrid one... you should be able to find/drop a 100 ES circlet easily, and it's probably better than what you're using. Later you can always substitute it with an Alpha Howl.
Keep 2 surgeon's granite flask with you, and maybe a jade one too since you're on Domination. Pop them before you jump in, and you won't die so easily.
Equip a Whirling Blades too, it's useful when you have to pull out quickly since it avoids collision.
I'd change Warlord's Mark with an Enduring Cry, some more damage mitigation is always nice. Just cast your curses manually before engaging.
I'd also consider replacing frenzy with viper strike, for those situations when you can't tank and have to kite... You already have blood rage as a mean to get frenzy charges.
On your passives, I wouldn't have gone to Vaal Pact, since you probably don't deal enough damage for it to be useful (I have a 180 DPS dagger and a 5L, and I still don't hit the leech rate cap). You could spend those skill points in survivability, by grabbing some shield node (increased block chance and increased defenses), as well as the few +ES nodes you're still missing.
Thanks for your tips. I'm indeed looking for a new helmet, but I've just bought a 5L Vaal Regalia ilvl78 from a dude that felt sad for me or something like that :) It's rolled with 530 ES atm so that'll do for now. I just need currency to roll the colors.
I also think I'm playing abit different than you guys, I'm more pulling packs, seperating them from other packs and flickernuking them down with a multistrike zerg. For some reason flicker strike keeps me topped in HP with Vaal and the curse (because i'm flickering on the pack the whole pack stays cursed and it nets me another 3% LS)
The Frenzy I need for when I can't nuke down the mobs fast enough (because my DPS is still lacking) so I build up 3 frenzy's with the strike and start going again. I have a feeling LIghtning Strike is terrible, it doesn't deal ANY damage at all for me, so I just don't use it except for pulling.
Maybe it's my playstyle, but I've got a feeling it's the gear, really. I'm going to try the warlords mark replacement with enduring, but they both give me endurance charges.. I have the whirling blades and 2 granites 98% armor with charge on crit and a jade with 90%+ evasion and crit charges aswell. My fourt flask is a cold one with dispel frost and the fift is a mana that removes curses.
I'm at 3.4K ES atm, are u sure replacing the helmet with a meagre 100 ES will be better than buying a cheap 700 ES one? %phys mitigation does alot for me, so it feels..

I guess that you often risk death because you rely more on Flicker... It does more concentrated damage, but you risk taking more damage as well, not mentioning the desynch issues (I often desynch when I use flicker without multistrike, and with multistrike it's only getting worse, at least for me)... You do leech more with flicker, since it's 100% physical damage.
The advantages of LS is that you can somewhat keep your distance, and you freeze/shock whole packs in no time (with hatred aura), so it's usually a safer playstyle. Once you link weapon elemental damage support gem to it, it will deal good amount of damage too.
I lately changed my primary skill to Reave (multistrike/melee damage on full life/power charge on crit/inc crit damage)... I'm still testing it, but it seems a good compromise between damage/AoE/leech... I'm a bit worried about physical reflect, I'll see how it works...
Depending on your passives, a 100ES circlet should give you 300+ ES... I don't know how much %phys reduction you lose, but I'd say that you should aim for around 3.8-4K ES total to be relatively safe. You can also use a hybrid ES/EV if you don't want to lose armor, it's not that uncommon to find one with decent rolls. I'd aim for an Alpha Howl in the end, freeze immunity and aura utility are very good for the build (and you get evasion/armor too).
On the playstyle I can't say much, I'm guessing that if you want to be aggressive, you have to equip above average gear... I prefer to play it safer, since I don't even run Vaal Pact or IR (have around 300 armor total)... I do have around 43% chance to evade, and I'm working on block chance now, and it seems it's working fine for me... If reave works, it will be both AoE and single target skill, so I'll free up a 4L from double strike, and I'm considering running a CwDT with ice nova + blind + increased AoE...

Hello again
I've found a tabula rasa, and I sold that one for 1,5 exalt giving me some currency to change my gear.
I've bought a ilvl 78 Vaal's Regalia and rolled these stats with 1 alch orb giving me enough to start with. Used about 10 stacks of chromatics to get the colours right:
After that I bought these amazing gloves for 2 chaos orbs:
I don't think the guy realised how good they are, they netted me about 500 white dps
I've also bought SinTrek boots for 1 chaos, but I can't get the colours right yet as I've used another 8 stacks on the gloves and I'm all out of currency now.
My DPS for LS went up to 5k so I removed multistrike from Flicker Strike so it's less random and added hatred instead of grace (can't use both yet). It really works, I'm facerolling lvl 66-68 blue maps now and I've almost went up a level in just a few!
Because of the DPS increase I've removed Frenzy and I'm using DS again, that one runs at 8k dps now. It's amazing what a few upgrades can do.. :)

Thanks alot for the help Nanaya!
You're welcome, I'm glad you got everything to work :)
And yeah, you got a huge deal on the gloves, Maligaro's are a very nice boost to DPS if you can give up some resist/ES. On standard they're selling for 1-2 exalted :D
Hi guys. Am lvl 64, trying to follow this build. But am very squishy right now what is wrong with my gear or build? One thing I know for sure, is that i lack of a ES but what else? Please enlighten me cause am struggling on felshrine, sure i can clear it but I must remain focused as f**k.
I'd say that you're lacking elemental resists, on top of lacking ES/hp (since you haven't respecced to CI yet). What is you hp/ES pool and elmental resists? You'll want capped (75%) elemental resists, or you're gonna melt with elemental damage...
Get a shield instead of dual wielding, it's a lot better unless you can get a very good ES chest with high resists... And since you don't even use dual strike, the benefits of dual wielding are not that great...
For the other pieces of gear, I thing a pair of pure ES boots is better... I find that Sin Trek is not that useful for the build, you'd better off with rare ES boots or Rainbowstrides.
I'd change the Andvarius too, -20 ele resists hurts if you're not overcapped and have survivability problems... Get a ring with resists/ES and maybe damage mods if you want to have an easier time.
As for skills, Hatred scales better than Wrath, since it gives you %-based bonus damage, plus the ability to freeze and shatter whole packs (good for crowd control and against necromancers).
I personally prefer LMP for lightning strike instead of faster attacks, it gives better area coverage (on that note, you'll want a quality LS for the chance to pierce, a 12-13% is good enough to begin with).
I'd leave whirling blades unsupported, since you usually use the skill only for movements and escaping, and support flicker with the 4L instead, it's very good to close the gap and pick specific monsters.
Thanks. Am finding it hard to get a nice shield. So far the best roll was 120 ES on fosilized shield, and for nice ES rolls ppl are asking copule exalts...
What about My skill tree? Does it need some changes at current lvl?
I guess it's pretty good since you haven't respecced to CI yet, the changes I'd suggest would be:
- drop the 2 energy shield recovery nodes near the starting area, they're basically useless.
- take the ES/EV cluster (6 nodes) near the Adder's Touch dagger cluster, it gives a good boost of survivability and adds +8% to all ele resists.
- drop the 2 +15% crit chance not needed to get Bloodthirst notable, and get a +1 power charge instead with just 1 point.
Might sound dodgy etc, but sell your alpha howl. My feeling with games like this is that you are better off buying alot of semi good gear instead of 1 best in slot. 4 exalts could net you a good riddance of all the problems you are stating. Getting a better ES, resists and spend a couple of chaos on a decent dagger (not one with 260+ dps but go for one with about 220 dps).
I've had alot of troubles too, and I fixed it with a couple of easy upgrades. I don't have alpha howl yet, just wearing a dispel frozen frost flask atm.
