Not instanced loot yet:(

They even go this far and still casuals cry. Just go back to D3, honestly. Please Chris, never do this, don't change the loot system ever again to please these 14yr olds, it's as close to instanced loot as it ever should be.

To please 14 year olds? Are you for real? Why do you think the game is so barren? FFA is trash to most of us.

FFA also sucks because of that question of who did that rare belong to? Especially when someone in the party is running mf and 6 rares drop to one person and they didn't have enough time to see which rares belonged to them. For those of us that like to play honorably, and not like ninjas or scoundrels, these new rules are a salvation in giving us a reason to party with strangers and friends alike :P

Before - no Option. Now we can choose REAL FFA :P OR Loot to name..
I can see 9999 party groups in list after this patch :)
Thats so perfect im already crying :)) THANKS GUYS !

Ok I have one question, quote:

"Valuable* items allocate to a random nearby player.
...
The item allocation mode takes affect when an area is spawned"

Still kinda confused, does the allocation happen when instance is created, and is right then decided what items are dropped from each monster and to whom they're allocated.. Or to a "random" close player (upon monster's death).

If its randomly chosen, then, does IIR and IIQ make any difference?

thx

this is bad chris. you are pussying out on this one. teenagers cry because they cant loot fast enough on maps the 6sockets so you just give into them. thats bad. i really had respect for ggg but the past few months its down the hill. keep this up and you will start losing players and the only people that will stay will be A) the most hardcore that are bored out of median xl and play this because there is no other game to play B) children that like to play games like diablo3 where the devs make everything to make the game as casual as possible

this was supposed to be a game for hardcore players, not for kids. with this changes to loot, you made this game for kids.

i dont remember many children playing d2, just because of the loot system. and that was a good thing.

a) some of us go to work and play a game for FUN, not more work. After all it IS a game right?
b) you're just another ninja upset that in order for you to continue ninja looting, you will have to join a party of ninjas.
c) the devs were OBSESSED with FFA. It is great that at least they listen to their player base no matter how obsessed they were with FFA. There is a huge chunk of players who restrict their mapping to either solo or playing with trusted friends because of FFA. But when said friends quit, chances are they also end up quitting. This is not good for the longevity of the game.

my assumption originates from the fact that they did NOT state "ANOTHER feature added in the 11.0 update is..." there was no more hints at "the mysterious update's information being released soon..."

if i am wrong... I (and probably the majority of the players) would like to have a clarification that this is NOT the mysterious and amazing update that we have been teased about.

GGG...

You did notice though that the thread's title is "Item allocation specifics" and not "All you ever wanted to know about the next patch's features"?
Reading the thread's title before opening the thread shouldn't leave much room for big surprises/disappointment when thereafter reading about (and only about) loot modes...

E: I like the introduction of more choices. I haven't played much in parties yet and when I did I had no expectations towards the loot I'd get. But now that might change... :)
Crit happens.

You don't get extra XP NEITHER extra loot (and loot can't be allocated to you) if you are not close anyway, do you realize this was changed some patches ago? This is not changed by this. In fact I doubt GGG would be making this change at all if that wasn't that way.

You're mistaking the "nearby" (within 3 tiles) and what I mean by "nearby", as in engaged in combat with mobs. You can be in range of xp/loot without doing a damned thing / being in any danger.

The loot should be 'one screen away' per GGG words (I've never seen loot allocated to someone which wasn't within the screen), I remember the tears of spark totem users when this was changed; if it's not working that way they better fix it. Also there is a very easy fix for that, kick the leecher from parties (I haven't ever encountered this problem of someone not contributing btw). But you can't undo ninja'ing (and is also usually difficult to figure who got the item even if you try to, usually the situation revolves around disintegrating the group).

No matter how you try to spin it, it's a win/win situation with this change, no one prevents anyone from setting up a FFA group; which is more than telling others how to play the game w/o being able to enforce rules one way or an other. This changes it, the rest is jut irrationality which will not help the game survive. This enhances group play and creating bounds, which helps to game longevity and in the end will help more real competitive modes proliferating (party races, CT events and leagues, etc.) and thriving, and in the end you don't lose nothing (as FFA still is a possibility).

Was something in the currently most prevalent map group descriptions (M2M FFA) too confusing? Do you think people were joining these expecting that FFA means only they will be able to ninja? I don't get this, I think it's pretty clear that everyone who joins such a group has the same chances? As long as they're willing to play the loot metagame of course, instead of just sitting back and waiting for everything to magically appear in their inventories.

I didn't really understood what you are doing with M2M, is it on or off? It should be an option to check honestly, we would see a lot of public map parties if that option was in, getting more ways to play together is always better. Put it in honestly especially if you already worked on it. Should be an option (on/off option not a maybe/maybe not) though and not something imposed by default.

For the rest i thought the old system was great, but more options like those is better, not matter if i still think the old one is the best.
