What about no loot at all ?

Just randomly give tokens after a kill.

Have different types of tokens (from trash to epic) and be able to buy items from that when you get back to the lobby.

No downtime at all ... no boring clicking ... no ninja's and grief.

OMG, that's almost heresy. I would drop the game faster than a hot piece of lead if they did that. Loot is ultimately why I play the game, and winning "tokens" (like a 5yr old at a kiddie park playing skeeball) would not cut it at all.

I can just see it now, look, I killed the endgame monster and I got 38 tokens. 38!! Take that. What did you get, 36? HAHAHAHA! My God, just no.

Personally, I like what they have proposed already.

Enjoy playing alone then .. only a niche within a niche likes ffa.

I suggested earlier to just roundrob loot into inventories ... i agree that tokens are more boring. However .. clicking stuff on the floor is also boring.

Honestly, I'd prefer that the PvP (fighting over loot is still fighting) elements stay out of PvE areas, but evidently there's loads of people who enjoy the fighting over loot.
The avatar is an accurate depiction of myself, waiting for an invite.
I'm against the FFA loot no matter if the item is White or Unique.

If i killed the monster/boss,the loot belongs to me.

It would kill it for me if you keep it FFA,because every day you're just going to rage every time someone steals something you wanted.
To me it seems overly complicated. I would prefer just having an option when making a party to set the loot to drop individually or ffa.
Individually it is randomly split between the players in the party and ffa is just like it is now.

Im an old diablo player and I must say that the loot system in that game was deeply frustrating. It was basicly just running to the boss and clicking frantically when he was close to death. I would prefer not having to focus on placement for getting drops and instead just playing the game.

I dont feel like it adds anything besides potential frustration to have to fight for loot. So I would like if I could focus on the game instead.

I myself prefer the random allocation of loot. Say a boss drops 2 or 3 rares and whoever picks them up it just goes to a random player and shows up in the chat box like the way most MMO's are set up these days.

Let the party leader choose how to set up the scenario, whether it is like the above example or straight FFA method. It would be nice to have all options on the table.
Personally, I find FFA loot to be a bad design decision. Why dont you guys over at development allow yourself to benefit from the experience with Hack&Slay No.1, Diablo2, and its successor Diablo3. A whole decade of grabbing in Diablo2 resulted in FFA being dropped completely in Diablo3. Which in my eyes is good because what did it give us other than grief?

Another reason is that you start with wanting players to cooperate adding their individual skills to become a well-oiled monster killing-machine. But only to divide them up again fighting over loot. Makes no sense.

My solution: every party member on screen when the monster is slain gets his individual roll on loot just as if he killed the monster himself. I dont need to steal my loot under someones else's nose in order to enjoy it properly.

The most prudent approach would be to let the party vote on FFA or individual rolls at the beginning of the session (with individual rolls winning at a tie).
I like the proposal on the first page. Any longer than 2 seconds will get annoying for people who are close to the item, cos they want to get back into the action.
I'm going to agree with Mantar on this subject, as I was one of those players on Diablo II for over 10 years putting up with players being divided over drops. In order to maintain a strong community, there should be comradery in cooperative games. If everyone is fighting over drops, nobody will play together except to steal.

I would implement a formulae whereby the drops are specific to each player (hidden from others), but probability, and quality determined by the total damage inflicted on the monster by that player. So the players that do the most damage get rewarded, and the players that do lesser damage or sitting doing nothing are appropriately rewarded.

Let the chaos be confined to PvP games, although FFA in PvP is annoying as well.
I remember fighting for loots in d2.It wasnt very good i played that game alone most of the time because of that or only with people i knew wouldnt play with alt hold down trying to get every drop intead of play with me.very frustrating indeed. And then i remenber some people came with pickit...that was pure crap. All public baal was people using pickit and i wouldnt like to see it happens again. But im cool with ffa in case it remains.I'll just play alone like i did in d2 no problem at all.
