I'll post here what I posted in the other thread:

PLEASE. . . Do not instance loot.

It would completely ruin this game.

Instanced loot means you have to lower droprates vastly to maintain the current economy. This will reduce the fun of looting because you won't find as many awesome items.

Instanced loot means you have no idea if the loot other people are getting is any good for you. They could have found the perfect upgrade and you wouldn't know... which brings me to the next point.

Instanced loot means no trust or community building... because there is no way to know whether they -would- have shared that loot with you if it was good for you.

It feels really good to see something drop and someone else let you have it. It signals to you that this is someone you can trust and have a great time with.

On the other hand, having someone take something from you instantly signals to you that maybe this person might not be the best person to play with. With instanced looting, you would have never found this out.

The only thing instancing loot does is -remove gameplay-, and pretty iconic gameplay at that. Its a terrible, selfish and poorly thoughtout idea that will ruin this game were it implemented.

Wouldn't extending the timers (As an OPTION) be essentially instanced loot and would also eliminate many of your complaints? I suggest that you read what people are asking for instead of just jumping into a hot topic.

If GGG won't address a thread with 120 pages already on the topic...why do you think they will listen here?

I hate FFA just as much as anyone else...but GGG ain't listening to this topic.

We're listening, we're just not prepared to make any changes to that mechanic at this stage.

Regarding the initial screenshot in this thread: I completely agree that the number of items that drop from situations like that is excessive. Hiding two thirds of the items from each player isn't really solving the fact that we need to fix the distribution of item drops from magic and above monsters.

Huge amount of feedback on this topic; I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I like the cutthroat nature of the pug loot system. I also like the idea of having personalized loot.

My idea is simple, leave the loot system AS IS for board groups (people who group with random other people using the board.) If a group is premade, as in a guild or group of friends make a NEW group from only inviting friends/guildies, allow that group to choose the amount of time allotted on items dropped, OR simply make the loot as it is in solo player, only for the person it drops for.

This gives gives a compromise to the already implemented system. Keeping the general loot cutthroat feeling for a large part of the player base and certainly for any new players; which really, in my opinion, is who needs to experience this first hand. BECAUSE that is a large part of the group poe experience.

This also gives those people who dislike the current system another option. As well as provides people more of a reason to use the friends list and participate in POE community groups/Clans/Guilds.

From what I have read this will please a great many displeased players. The only type of player who will be displeased is the one who does not like other people; and to be honest, let them solo or deal with ninjas if they are so unreasonable :D

I hope this thread is still read and this suggestion will be heard, if possible can we get another yellow comment to validate that this feedback is still being heard? (love the Devs for this game btw.)

Edit: Nvm the last paragraph, as per the post above me you guys are watching, as I had said, <3 the devs!

I havent read all the pages in this thread, its quite long, but I think the ffa loot is ok and here is my reasoning. If your grouped with some players and someone is taking all the loot as soon as it drops, then DONT PLAY WITH THAT PLAYER.
Any group of people that want to play and be fair to each other, will just kill all the monsters in the area before going after all the loot. Its not that hard to make sure its safe then pick up loot and/or decide who gets the rare item that just dropped.
When someone breaks the rules you dont party with them any more. They will be stuck having to group with others that do the same, or learn to cooperate. If we want this to be a good, fair , and fun game its our responsibility also to make grouping fun and fair. I dont think extra rules or changes have to be the developers responsibility to make sure no one 'gets cheated on loot'. It really isnt that hard to just not play with the people who wont be fair. If the playerbase sticks together with what they want then the loot hogs will be forced to play fair or not be able to group.
Just like it real life when you end up around someone that is only out for thier advancement, YOU DONT ASSOCIATE WITH THEM ANY MORE. when they no longer have any friends or anyone to play with, maybe then they might take a look at why..

1) There are more reasons people hate FFA than simply "Someones taking all of the loot". Its also annoying when people stop fighting to loot items because of the focus on picking them up as soon as they drop. Some of us do not like having to compete for loot which is what this system encourages. Its unrealistic to have to try to have a conversation with every person you meet to try to see if they will play ONLY looting there own items and focusing on killing the monsters before looting.

2)I think its unreasonable to make people leave games over and over again to try to find someone acceptable to play the game with. Some people don't play this game all day long and don't really have time to bounce around the few public games that there are just to leave again quickly when it doesn't pan out. Or if your the party leader to have to boot people over and over again simply for playing the game as intended and as encouraged by the loot system.

Its a much better and simpler solution to just give the players looting options so that they aren't forced to compete for loot if they don't want to in public games. If the game had an instanced loot option then I could simply jump into a game with anyone and have a good experience. But that's just my opinion.

Can you guys add more loot-filter options in the UI options?

e.g.

Something like this:

Show:

[x] White Items
[ ] Magic Items
[ ] Rares Only

[x] Show weapons
--- [x] 1-Handed
------[ ] Daggers
------[ ] Maces
------[ ] etc.
--- [ ] 2-Handed

[x] Show Armor
--- [x] Strength armor only
--- [ ] Dexterity armor only
--- [ ] Energy Shield armor only
[ ] Flasks

*Orbs should always show up by default?

I know you could design an "auto" everything with really strong filters and I understand a lot of people may be against that because looting is part of the game, but right now... there is simply sooooooooooo many items to wade through on the screen! It is tiring, and not in a fun way (assuming it is a group of 4+ people doing farm/exp runs)

I think it is sensory overload. Too much.

I am new to Path of Exile I love that game so far with one exception and I know this has been addressed before and have read the thread however I firmly disagree with a loot system that causes players to fight or compete amoung themselves over who gets what loot without an option to play non-competitive coop.

This issue has been addressed in several other ARPG games and they are using a "your loot is your own" system which promotes team play over every man for himself styles. Say you are in a game and you get a player that adds nothing to the battle short of loot sniping while others are battling.

This style of gameplay forces players to want to play single player over coop which defeats the purpose of coop to begin with and makes the effort to create a coop game moot. Why not add an option to choose between gametypes, not unlike FPS gametypes, that would allow for competing for loot or cooperating by giving each player their own loot and allowing them to decide if they want to trade or give their loot to their friends?

This would be a true comprimise for the existing loot system and would cater to a larger demographic of players thus increasing exposure of your game and increasing the fanbase.

Adding to this, I am not suggesting they remove or change the FFA loot style only that they consider scripting options to allow those of us that do not want to play FFA to turn to off the FFA loot system and switch to a personal loot system in which everyone recieves their own loot that no one else but the individual can pick up. This removes the need to babysit unruly players or having to leave games because others won't cooperate.
Honestly you guys, I think you should give people the choice whether to use your cut-throat FFA rules, revised w/ timer rules, or just no timer loot is yours rules.

It kills the desire to group up. I personally will never group for that reason, always holding alt to check for loot otherwise its gone in 1-2 secs. I want to kill things, not be a loot ninja.

Do what you will GGG, this is your baby, but having an mmoarpg that discourages teamplay is counter-intuitive.

Give people the option. I don't think many would use your cut-throat-or even revised rules for that matter, other than a small select group, or people who know eachother.
FFA loot=Single player MMOARPG. GGG please consider a change.
On a side note. I don't think that this game is really classified as an mmorpg. Its an ARPG. In my eyes anyway
