How I Got to Level 100
" actually gamers like him are sitting around in mumble all day with a bunch of friends talking non stop. High level athletes are often sent to camps etc when they are young, grow up never having a proper social life, never going out drinking and clubbing with their friends, it can actually be an even more life distorting, socially isolating thing that isnt just 4 months spent jerking off with pixels, its actually from the age of 11 right through till theyre in their 30s. Not all sports of course, but a lot of very elite athletes in highly demanding disciplines go through that. So in mental terms playing a computer game every day for 4 months isnt really that unhealthy in comparison. In physical health terms, well thats a no brainer of course comparing sports with gaming. |

This here is a prime example of why the game is fundamentally broken. It's a leveling system akin to D2's, but without one key fact of that game: leveling does not stop mattering after ~85. If it did, it would be fine that getting to the max level takes an absolutely ridiculous amount of time and a literally dangerous commitment to the game, because you wouldn't be required to do so. There was no noteworthy benefit to reaching level 99 in D2, it was for bragging rights and ladder competition. Your character pretty much stopped getting stronger in the mid-80s as most builds were finished by then and could not benefit from any further skill points. The opposite is true in PoE: the last skill points are actually the most powerful ones, and the impossibility of reaching even level 90 without slaving away far more than any game must ever demand of the player is the reason this game can never be truly healthy and can never have PvP that anybody will take remotely serious.

"Uhm what? Most PoE builds ARE finished around 85, some 90. Anything after that is a minor buff that you shouldn't ever expect to reach anyway. IGN: Golem_Antsy, Harvest

I'm just wondering if this is legit, did Charan call the devs "grossly incompetent"...?^^
Anyway gratz. I think it's a little bit sad that the character doesn't say anything sepcial and that the devs haven't shown any reaction. :/ Last edited by Asphael on May 22, 2013, 10:09:23 PM

Reaction is naturally muted because there's controversy over how the goal was achieved. Some say he cheated... even people that cheated with him.

" Who are you to judge?! The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG

And when the thread is closed an instantly forgotten geek nobody.
How can you be enrolled in physics if you still miss the >of< after couple. |

Interesting read.
No wonder there's a lot of haters in here. Someone actually got to level 100, by playing a totally insane amount of PoE for five months. Yes, that's "no-life" for you. However, how people chose to spend their lives is none of our concern. If what they really want is to play for 12+ hours a day on average for months, and the circumstances of their life makes it possible, what's stopping them and who is to judge them? This being on softcore doesn't make it less of an achievement. Cmon, this game isn't hard. Reaching level 100 on HC doesn't make you a "pro" gamer, it makes you someone with a decent understanding of game mechanics, a lot of free time, a stable connection, and a fair bit of luck to not have any death-causing crashes or desyncs. The difference from the SC player is that you NEED a stable connection, and a bit of luck, as well as playing a bit more careful when doing high level maps. I don't see "skill" being one of these differences, obviously, because skill is not an element in this game outside of races (the "skill" required to win a race is still laughable when compared to competetive PvP games). Knowledge is all, and at level 90+, I can guarantee that you have an extensive knowledge of the game, be it on SC or HC. This coming from a lvl 88 HC player that has a stable connection, and so far decent luck with not crashing at the wrong time. So are you impressed with my stable connection? I bet you are.
