Dragon's Immortal Tank (Updated for 1.2)

If you can get your hands on a Soul Taker, the loss of a few auras won't matter one bit :P

Off to work! Yay... and Q_Q at the same time.

Dragon, how important is a 6-link? I know its obviously a luxury, but they're so damn expensive! If I got a 6 link, it wouldn't have that high armour (maybe 800-900 and maybe 1 or 2 resists), so is it worth it? or should I just get a really good 5-link? (1700 armour, 3 resists, life)?

It is not important really. It just gimps your dps by quite a bit. I think last time I checked my dps went down from 10k to 6.5k when I took out WED. I would save up for a 6L... they are expensive for a reason :), OR you can buy a really nice chest and try to 6L it yourself. Good luck tho, took me over 800 for mine, which is actually average O-O.

Has anyone tried the Amplify node above the templar tree? Is it worth the 2 points for some more radius?

I have thought about it. This question seems to get asked a lot. It is perfectly ok to grab this node, but I see it as a wasted 2 points that I can replace with gcps. In addition, the new splash radius buff has made the radius TONS better. I would actually say that now you can prob have a blast with just 20% total quality between both gems. 20 on BOTH gems is just insanely good now.

The main reason why I don't take blast radius is because I had an agenda for the build and have so few remaining talent points after. So, I felt like it was a necessity to spend them as wisely as possible and an increase to aoe radius and damage didn't fit the bill for 2 points.
Alright.

Writing this before I go to bed. I've been using your build and I've made quite a few changes, changes for several reasons such as unable to afford an Aegis as well as feeling uncomfortable using a Stone of Lazwhar amulet.

Here my is weapon (373 DPS) and Shield

Honestly my advice to those getting into this build. You're not going to have a lot of DPS without a 6link. So get a decent weapon. I got this weapon as an upgrade from a 250dps one and my DPS on Infernal Blow went up by around 3k. I also suggest dropping Blood magic at around level 65~ in favour of taking Auras. Survivability > Everything (seriously, you can kill everything, just slowly.

Also, it's completely fine to NOT use Stone of Lazwhar, I myself am using
because I love the life leech I get. ( DO NOT BE TURNED OFF BY THE -25% HEALTH AND ES, You lose more health UNEQUIPPING THIS AMULET, just because of how much strength it gives multiplied by your health nodes) Trust me, this Amulet GIVES health.

I'm sitting at around 7k DPS with all my auras. Currently running 2 of the 3 elemental damage auras (fire and frost), planning to get the third one for an even greater DPS. Along with purity, vitality, tempest shield and grace. Making me effectively run 7 auras in total. 7K DPS sounds low but never dying? I like the trade off, also don't forget I'm not exactly Mr. Exalteds holding an Aegis Aurora. Most of my gear costs anywhere in between 1 chaos to 2 gcps, except for my weapon which I got myself using orbs of chance trying to find that new axe.

Here's my current passive tree

I took the amplify nodes in the templar tree because I really enjoyed killing large packs (I recently bought a 16% Infernal Blow for 1gcp) although my melee splash is still 0%. I plan on taking the health nodes and the shield passives as I'm nearing my 80s. I also took 3 points to take reserved mana so I could run 4 of my 6 current % auras all on my mana. This means I'll need to use blood magic a lot of the times but with my regen and LL I don't feel the side effects in. My survivability.

All in all I'm doing perfectly fine, I NEVER die to anything and I've solo cleared a lot of rare maps with some pretty difficult mods. Do not be afraid of not having spell block! Your Weapon = Your overall DPS. Survivability > Everything (Get those Resists Maxed, and even then, get some more for maps)

In the end you don't need a fancy 6 link , aegis or tricorne to have an amazing solid build so if you're reading this don't get discouraged. Test the waters out, seriously , try things, see the limits your OWN character has. Just don't over do it and get yourself killed.

Enjoying this build alot.

Currently just killed brutus cruel, and since i got melee splash added onto infernal, it has been so much fun to play, (swapping in wed for bosses).

Now i need to get more gems (auras / more bm gems / reduced mana) and get 4links and better now, then i will start to see the full potential of this build.

Not sure why you would drop blood magic on Infernal. I currently run 7 aura's and tempest and don't have a 6L or even aegis yet. Infernal is still on blood.

Also about the Lazwhar, it helps a ton. Really no reason not to use it. Of course I'm on anarchy so onyx ammy isn't a option so can't really test that out. It seems you have opted for more of a dps route first while the original was defense first(while leveling final builds will probably be about the same). That axe is pretty nice btw grats!
Stone of lazhwar might as well be considered core.

I would never dare solo 70+ maps without this amazing necklace, it allows me to survive barrages from 20+ mobs, chaos vaal constructs, piety lightning, voidwalkers, map boss nukes, false god with multishot -20% res.

With -22res affix(or ele weakness) I am infinitely more tanky with lazwhar than any other shield with capped res.
