Dragon's Immortal Tank (Updated for 1.2)

"
Ok, I did a full respec and went the full on body and soul route, dropping IF and quite a few hp nodes. Current build here.

It is utter, horrid, dogshit! The gain in armor and es was completely negated by the loss of hp and hp regen. I tested both builds against kole, vaal, piety, and lunaris 3 Titty B's. Not only that, but Kole seems to be stronger than ever! It feels as though his damage did not get lowered at all. Even keeping Enfeeble on him he was actually able to kill me twice! Once in each build, old and new.

This entire patch is looking to be an cataclysmic disappointed as I predicted. I knew I would hate it, and I do. The build will remain pretty much the same. The difference now will be dropping Inner Force and picking up the ele resist nodes near mara start until capped. Still stacking as much hp as possible, and potentially grabbing the 2 .4% regen nodes under duelist start.

I'll post a final build as soon as I get my hands on more regrets, but for those thinking of going the armor route, DON'T. Not with this build.

So disappointed.

Wouldn't it of been better to get the 3 armor nodes at the beginning of the tree aswell as the 3 armour nodes to the left of Master of arena (Steel skin) instead of the 6 to get Body and Soul???
New build, back to old roots. Notable changes: Dropped Inner Force, it's terrible now. Grabbed all nearby hp nodes like original build. Picked up the 2 .4% regen nodes under duelist start. Picked up the 2 15% lightning resist nodes near mara start to cap my resists. Picked up 2 dps nodes, though I am considering dropping them for 4% more block depending on further testing. 65% chance to block doesn't sit well with me. My goal was 70% by level 88 and now that won't happen unless I ditch the dps nodes.

Back to the usual. Keep you ele resists maxed and stack as much hp and regen as you can. Will update the guide.

Still very disappointed.

In other words, same old as before, only worse. I was kinda hopeful that melee would be improved with this patch, but they only made it worse. WTF, GGG? Do any of them even play melee chars?
IGN: Bahnzo <--- that should find me.

Yes, it is much worse now. The nerf to IF and the nerf to elemental adaptation gave us a combined nerf of 4% max resist which may not sound like much but it is HUGE. The hp/sec nerf hurts more than some might think too. Using a BM gem causes a very steep hp per attack cost. Yet another good reason to use Multistrike. On top of all that, we lost 16 all resist from the build and another 6? from the IF nerf and consequent dropping of IF.

And to make things even more interesting... I honestly cannot tell a difference in monster damage which makes me think the reduction was 20% at best. So we have all of these nerfs to justify 20% less damage? It may just be the frustration talking, but... I KNEW this patch would disappoint me.

I am sorry to hear you are disappointed my friend. This thread is one of the few that I follow with interest.

The nerf to inner force + EA, combined with less hp and less HP regen is extremely brutal.

How much are your resistances capped at now?

81% after taking MORE resist nodes =/

I was going to work on updating the guide tonight but for some strange reason all the bling has disappeared from it. Color, font size, ect. All gone. Just a plain jane guide now =(

I need to go to sleep before I get more depressed. My mf templar feels like a sissy now too. And his totems are getting eaten alive faster than I can cast them. Balance my ass.

I'm quite interested in this build recently until I got this new patch in my knee...
nerfing both sides sounds reasonable, but why not change some more melee gems to adapt to new patch? Are most of them PEFECT matching all the patches all the way?
anyway, really a good build&builder, hope finally can kick some ass with this awesome build.
POE is for sure a free-for-fun game, but as far as I know and see,it's also a pay-to-win game.
If it's any consolation I think this build will still be one of the better "true tank" builds available to Melee players. I used my free re-spec to change my 60 Mara on default over to this build from a 2H Lightning Striker and not only is his survivability waaaaay up in Merc, I am killing much faster and don't have to kite! I just stand there raining down Infernal Blows and watching shit explode. It is glorious.

I am running 5L with BM + LoH + Infernal + Splash + Multi. It is very nice right now and as long as I pop a granite once in awhile I am steamrolling packs. I don't even have the damage maxed since I am using Life on Hit right now. Not sure what I will add as a 6L when I get one...Fire Penetration perhaps.
I've been meaning to try a block build for a while now. Seeing this one + the awesome tempest shield effect I am sure I will try it in the Anarchy league - can't wait!

Getting the unique items and high lvl gems might be tricky, so I'll probably be stuck with an inferior version of the build for a long time, but being able to constantly improve on it is something to look forward to.

I hope you will come to terms with the new balance after the patch.
On the other hand - if GGG really screwed up I hope they will realize it and fine tune the changes.

Many thanks for sharing!

EDIT: Have you considered using Static Blows for the 10% (or even 20%) chance to shock with the Tempest Shield, to add insult to injury and stack shock on those mobs hammering you?
