First Bex then Chris, now Rory has left, POE 1 is all but dead now. GGG is done.

I called it all the way back when they said poe2 would be a separate game that they'd kill poe1 I just didn't think it would be within a year of poe2 release
Activision Blizzard feels.

And poe2 is full of vision.

Sad indeed.

hoho I don't know who Rory even is.

U've probably watched alot of his live league reveals tho. Even tho he wasn't in the picture, he was the guy sitting next to Chris answering all game related questions that Chris couldn't.

He was one of the people right on the pulse of the game, just like Mark. I think he also worked alot in the support department as of late.

There's been - as we like to say in German - "Schicht im Schacht" for a while now. Personally, I still think the game started to go downhill with patch 3.9.0 and beyond. I still miss crafting my own gear for a reasonable price.

The community did everything it could to make Chris Wilson lose his will to live. Then he quit.
The most bizzare thing to me is that I believe poe 1 players would be very happy with not so good new league. Just give us something small new and 40 new challenges and most of the players would be happy for a few months. How hard is that really? the core game is good...

If mark leaves

I might just start playing actively again.

My first impression of him was when he chimed in that “this isn’t a bug; your character’s not slow.” A new-ish player was subject to reduced movement speed. Not slow? Well, he sure wasn’t fast

Good games have depth and complexity. Bad games are complicated. PoE 1 (not really played PoE 2, so will hold off on offering opinions on it) ticked all of those boxes and plenty more besides. The game has always had a million and one 'quick wins' available for it, if they cared about the new player experience and didn't want the game to be needlessly and pointlessly confusing.

If they swapped the terms "Slow" and "Temporal Chains" (e.g. a curse with the former name applies an effect called the latter), then it would be much easier for new players to grasp. "Temporal Chains" is a name they've made up, so they get to define it. Instead, they try to define the commonly-used word "Slow" - which runs into problems because, y'know, we already know what that means. Every new player needs to learn that GGG have decided to redefine that word - and it contributes to the learning curve - but it's not depth or complexity. It's bullshit. No boss fight, or achievement, or challenge would be rendered less difficult by them switching those two terms. It's the same as making a game 'harder' by making its UI worse. It's not a good form for challenge.

I don't think the team that are (were..?) working on PoE 1 are necessarily bad at game design - but they've always been in desperate need of a UX engineer to approve / reject decisions of theirs - or, to be blunt, even just a person with a basic level of common sense.

There are two Mark in GGG anyway

Mark_GGG last post in reddit is like 2 years ago, and just somehow active in official forum

https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-posts/Mark_GGG-0000

The another Mark (Neon) is more active and as one of the face in reveal session

I am not surprise the original Mark phased out from public and then suddenly we found out he has left the company for good
