Hey guys, will characters be wiped ( reset to level 1 ) AFTER open beta is done?

I have some questions regarding switching weapons.

I have been playing a Ranger, and focusing entirely on bows. I put points into bow skills, dexterity, and accuracy. Now, at the beginning of Act 2 I find a 2 handed sword that literally doubles my DPS. So the question is: do I switch to the sword, which means I drop all the bow skills I've been using, and the passive skill points, in favor of the higher DPS? Obviously this question applies to any situation in which skill points have been put toward a certain weapon, then a better weapon comes along.

Related question: will skill gems drop with higher probability based on the weapon you're using? Case in point - I tried out the new sword, and almost right away my first red skill gem of the game dropped for me (lightning strike).

Next question, about tri-color items. I thought that vendoring an item with three colored slots yielded a chromatic orb? Or did I read that wrong, somewhere? Shouldn't tri-color items be more valuable?

As far as I know, skill gems drop totally rng.

Better formatting rather then the huge wall of text it was before and it is easier on the eyes.
