Development Diary: End-game Maps
" Hell yeah. For once GGG gets some press on a major game site without having to offer their firstborn. Forum Sheriff

Obviously this isn't enabled before endgame because you would outlevel the area you're currently in, so that you're constantly overpowered after the map.
What would be cool though is the option to use a "different way", meaning you skip one of the normal zones but you get randomly generated content instead that levels you up for the same amount. so instead of doing act1, act2 and then act 3, you do act1, get random content that brings you to the level you would have at the end of act 2 and then drops you off at the beginning of act 3. The quality of the content would not be as good as the handcrafted story of the real acts but it would be an alternative for experienced players that are bored by the default zones. |

There are few games where I look forward to endgame more than playthrough.
This is one of them. Time to buy CB key. TAKE MY MONEY GGG. USE IT WELL. I love how my pic looks like a raging seal. Sorta.

I'm really wondering about the rarity of a chisel, you'd have to assume people will have enough chisels to make only the really good ones up to 20% rarity, on the other hand, do you really want people to make all the really good maps even better?
But then again, how often are you going to find a unique map, or rare map with like 6 properties, all of which are both doable & rewarding. I personally hope the chisels will be too rare (on average) that anyone that finds a unique or great rare, will not be able to upgrade them to 20% without paying a hefty price. So, much rarer than maps themselves. ign:mptyspace

" I hope they're rare (not too rare though), but I do hope they start to drop at much lower levels than the maps themselves... makes them into another currency item that has higher value to the high levels |

These maps sound like a really good idea. I like how you guys from GGG try to solve the issues previous ARPGs had without actually straying very far from the original ideas, be it refillable potions, currency with intrinsic value or the maps that seem to be "just" a new application of already existing mechanics.

TotalBiscuit also tweeted the video, so that probably brought in a good number of interested players.

when does the patch release?
Give a man a fish, and you can feed him for a day.
But give a fish a man, and you can feed it for a month. |

I can't wait to reach the End-game, I think this idea may actually work!
