GGG has said a lot of things re PoE 1 vs. PoE Too. But, as has been hammered home by posters on this very forum, plans change. ='[.]'=

GGG isn't a charity organization. They are in the money making business. As long as it's ecomically sound/sane to keep PoE 1 around, they will probably do so.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
I noticed that there are private leagues in PoE. What are those? They look pretty interesting. Does it means private servers?

You pay GGG (you and those that want to play with you) to host it, like a separate league with a load of modifiers

Really....it all depends on what happens with PoE 2. And for certain, NOTHING will happen immediately, this will be years down the road.

1) If PoE 2 is wildly successful, and players begin to gravitate towards playing ONLY PoE 2 leagues...PoE 1 will steadily decay in both player numbers AND mtx purchases, leaving GGG with no reason to continue paying for the servers. They WILL eventually make the decision to close up shop, no matter what they say now.

2) PoE 2 is successful, but PoE 1 REMAINS successful: keeping enough of a core regular player-base that it makes financial sense for both games to run simultaneously for longer. HOWEVER; this will never ever be a "forever" thing. Eventually, perhaps around the time of PoE 3, GGG will shelve PoE 1....or they might even actually fuse PoE 1 and PoE 2 LATER. This is probably the situation that would ensure the longest lifeline of PoE 1.

3) PoE 2 flops, and the player numbers in PoE 1 remain higher than PoE 2. In this scenario, GGG will absolutely continue to try and revitalize PoE 2 for a few years through big patches (a la D4), but they may begin to consider making changes in PoE 1 that would allow a fusion of the two games sooner than scenario #2. They can't possibly just abandon PoE 2, and they most certainly wouldn't abandon their only profit-horse....so they would be forced to do everything they initially wanted to do in 2019.

Unless the cost is negligible, PoE 1 will almost assuredly die at some point and time. The only question is WHEN. If it makes more financial sense to close up shop, then that is what they will do no matter WHAT they have said in the past. Companies do this all the time, try to assuage people with temporary platitudes but ultimately make decisions based on the money. Blizzard and Diablo are poor examples to compare to because Blizzard has an incomparably larger bankroll, and many other titles that continue to rake in cash. It is quite literally no cost to them to continue running D3 or D2 servers. This is currently NOT true of GGG and PoE.

If poe2 is succesfull enough it will be rip poe 1 for sure. not right away ofc but in time.
It's ok to be white

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

I doubt it matters how successful PoE2 is, it's still going to be running the same formula to content, leagues every 3 ish months.
And since it's leagues there will be a peak in player counts at launch and it'll drop down about 2 months in, which is when they'll come out with a PoE1 league.

If the PoE2 league sucks that time round then you'll only be waiting a few months before something new comes around.

When POE2 has 5x POE playerbase.

Harvest is the BEST league EVER. Deterministic crafting ftw.
How will POE2 and POE coexist?

I don't think the ratio will be that large. Key Devs (including Jonathan at last year's Exilecon) have already expressed their disdain for PoE 1 as a game, and their hopes for PoE 2 to be the "vision" they've always pursued. Unless they somehow intend to keep the "deeply-flawed" older game around for kicks, I doubt they will continue to invest many resources into PoE 1, once PoE Too has its feet under it. ='[.]'=
