You fight mobs, treasure drops. Somebody grabs it. If you have trustworthy party members, mebbe you get an equitable split. If not, mebbe not. Solution? Party with people you know and trust. Too hard? Too bad. It is what it is.

You fight mobs, treasure drops. A magical timer intervenes in the collection of the spoils, everybody reacts to the timer dynamic, and things now revolve around that construct.

Indeed, this is my concern as well. And who knows if it might even be enough of a hit to significantly impact the overall feeling of playing the game.

Also, the new feeling that one player might have to say that one item "belongs" to them because it was allocated to them, regardless of their build or how arbitrary the allocation was. Now, if a bow user wants that bow, they have to ask whoever picked it up, because they can no longer just grab it.

If it did this for ORBS, I wouldn't have any complaint. But build-specific rare items???

The only way to do THAT right would be to allocate based on who is already using what kinds of items...

Why not go with a loot rules option for when partying with people you dont know, that way you do not have to instance loot or drop soem timer on it.

have it be able to set from normal to rare to epic and have a box that to check or uncheck that read class specific loot/usuable loot.

the coding for this can't be to tough, every single MMO uses it. It does make loot spread fairly and righteously.
Now presenting! Venom ink; malice in the pen, poison on the paper, anger in the mind.

More like "simulation of clicking on mudcrabs and hoping they will drop +2 sword". PoE doesn't have anything to do with survival. It's just standard loot centric hack and slash title.

Then play it HC mode I am sure you will care more about surviving than clicking like madness...
Once you die you can delete that char if you don't want to play in default league.

I call it survival game any time a day (if played in HC).
It has nothing to do with hack and slash either ,it seems you haven't played the game properly or you have little knowledge what hack'n'slash is , I will just remind you :

Yeah it is loot centric, Diablo 3 isn't ?Or Diablo II?
Shall I continue ?
Why are you here when you do not like such games ?
And don't tell me that PoE is standard game, there are standard mechanics which are used in this game but there are also few unique approaches/features that I would call new and fresh.
Wouldn't call it a "standard" type of game.

Please, you guys, hold out. You already have your accounts, and it takes time for a development staff of **18** people to make all of this right.

I'm sure after .9.10, there will be a lot of discussion on the loot system, and *if timed isn't good enough for you*, and if there are a lot of you (which there may very well be) then there's a good chance GGG WILL implement a full instanced loot option and revert the other to FFA again.

But it's not going to happen overnight.

Thank you, VideoGeemer. You and I assumed the worst about each other at first, but we've both come around. I know you favor FFA, but you've expressed respect for the wishes of those for whom an instanced loot option is essential, just as I have learned to appreciate the desires of those for whom an FFA option is essential. We've gone from angry retorts to intelligent discussion. Surely if you and I can come to this understanding, GGG can too.

As I believe Raycheetah said, it's the party's loot anyway, not our own.

I think this is the best justification for the current FFA behaviour of all. The item was never "yours" in the first place (and that's completely ignoring that there really is "no spoon"...)

QFT

There really needs to be a full FFA option. I know we haven't gotten the chance to test this, but it's a logical assumption that it's going to break FFA by definition. FFA is all or nothing, no "in-between".

1 second + travel time is a VERY LONG TIME in a game like this.

I don't like the idea of clicking an item I can't pickup, nor do I like the idea of "stealing" an item from someone who got into the fray before the death of the boss, simply because the game randomly chose me as the "owner".

I had plenty of squishy ranged characters in D2, but I always moved in close towards the death of the boss, risking death to get my fair chance.

Optional or Not-at-All

Love the update for the most part, but I think not having personalized loot is a huge mistake. Games that have personalized loot like Diablo 3 have no problem with their trading economy.

LOL, you just said D3 has no problems with their trading economy! HAHAHAHA, that's a good one. :D

Have you played Diablo 3? It might not get a lot right for people, but the trade economy is solid. You can find ANYTHING on the Auction House and trades between people is very common. Instanced loot is not a problem in Diablo 3. It's one of the main things the game gets right, IMO.
