You guys still using fork after patch? what is your Spell spark gem combo currently?

Spell totem + spark + fork?

Yep, usually +faster casting. With additional links, increased crit damage and/or chance for the crit-inclined, otherwise +IIR and/or IIQ gem.

Thanks for sharing your findings. Many of us hate or have no interest in algebra and without guys like you, we would be lost in the Math of Excel. :)

Speaking of which, i managed to put up that Spreadsheet i was talking about the other day.

It's still in testing, but it's pretty much accurate. Some values, such as tooltip DPS, could vary from the in-game equivalent, because PoE handles roundings in a weird way i couldn't catch still. Differences tho should be way less than 1% of the real value (something around 5-10 over 2000 dps in my particular case), and that was enough for me xD

Here's the link:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqdR6Zo1aWjNdG5rNG1PcFZUQjFSdGZIQ3NxY3QyeWc&usp=sharing

To edit it, make a copy or download an Excel version (not tested) and start fiddling xD

It should be straightforward to use, but just in case:
- Blue fields are data you must enter. Gear and Passives bonuses have been separated for easier referencing when trying different setups. All values must be entered as they are in-game, so an hypotetical "Increase Max Life by 85%" should be entered as "85" not "0.85"
- Green fields are calculations. You should not change them manually in any way. You can check them if you are curious ;)
- Yellow fields are those that you would be looking for.
- Grey fields should not be entered, because they have no direct impact on any of the relevant stats.

Some notes for correct usage:
- "Total ES" is the sum of all the ES values from items that show it, so: chest, helm, shield, boots and gloves. Nothing else.
- "Shield ES" is there for the shields passives. You must input the amount of ES of your shield. You must still sum the amount of ES of your shield for the "Total ES" value tho. It's sort of like "X total ES, of which Y is from my shield". Has no effect if you didn't take the Shield passives, of course.
- Bonus to max ES, both absolute or %, from chest, helm, shield, boots and gloves are already baked into the total ES for that item, so they should be ignored. Bonuses from rings, amulet, waist and weapon, instead, must be considered.
- "Inner Force %" is the total % of bonus to buffs, it should be 18 or 0 in almost every case.
- "Bonus Def. from Shields %" is the amount of bonus defences from equipped shields, from the shields passives.
- "Pain Attunement %" should be either 30 or 0, if you have PA or not.

I included the most common gems that i think the majority of you are using, but it would be easy adding some more (like Added X Dmg and so on) if the need arises.

All the relevant Auras should be there already.

For summing up your passives bonuses, as exilepro is still at the previous patch, I'm using the android app from Google Store. Link is in this thread http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/367599

I'd like for you to try it it and let me know what you think, or any bug/discrepancy you find, or any feature you'd like added ;)

Again, it's not a stable release, just an alpha version that needs testing. It was correct for all the scenarios i could put up, but there could still be some bugs (especially when roundings occur) so take its values with "a grain of salt"

Bye

P.S. my first finding using this tool is that Vitality Aura contribution to ES regen is way lower than what i thought and i'd be able to ditch it and all those mana passives i have xD

The thing about Trolls Blood is that getting to it involves increasing your life and there's nothing else around it.

Nullification is surrounded by ES/Armor nodes. Very usefull. And is nearer to where you would end up anyhow.

It's ES/Evasion, not Armor.

Base life from levels at 100 is 644. He also has 124 strength in his tree, bringing his base life to 706. The 6% node you must get for the Templar's life regen increases it to 748.

If you get Troll's Blood, you have to take a +30 hp node. This bumps your life up to 780.

Righteous Fire burns for 100% of your max life. So the difference with a fire resistance of 79% (Purity) makes this 157 vs 163 degen. If you have 2000 ES and Springleaf, you will regenerate 140 vs 170. In other words, in this example, Troll's Blood is the difference between being able to sustain RF or not.

As a side note, if you were to pick up Elemental Adaptation while on your way to Troll's Blood, you'd lower your degen to 148 instead of 163 for a 1 point investment.

Note: To be completely fair, going toward Troll's Blood means you're taking more Strength nodes than you otherwise would. Compared to other builds posted, this equates to 10-20 more HP. If you spend the Troll's Blood skill points on ES nodes, this will likewise increase regeneration, so the difference between the two approaches would be smaller as a result. What's important to take away from this: Do the math and compare.

Yes, it's negligible due to increasing ES or increasing regen depending on which way you go. With Springleaf it's hard not to be able to sustain RF. That 6% regen is massive.

The bold part is hilarious if you go a couple pages back you'll see a spreadsheet I created for all the math you need regarding RF sustainability. I made it plug and play to do the calculations for you. (though thePlash's is nicer. Good job on him posting that)

Again, it's up to the person and equipment and end build. It's good to have options.

Trolls Blood would obviously work at the cost of +65 life (55 if you were planning on EA anyhow) which is easily overcome by the regen and then some.
Going for Nullification grants you the additional 32% ES (added to current % multiplier not by current value) +ES and Mana from the INT nodes which I believe offsets (or closely offsets) the trolls blood but leaves you in a different area with cast speed and crit.

Neither is mandatory but it'd be advisable to have either one.

Amazing work! When downloading Excel version there is an error while opening which say that it had to recover the file by removing some unreadable entry.

dunno abt u but i tried without troll's blood and the extra es from nullification is outshadowed by the amount of es regen gained from trolls blood (abt 80) .. although u do miss out on 8% resists (made up by taking diamond skin near trolls blood) otherwise eva and es cooldown recovery pretty useless on this char

I don't have my character high enough to try troll's blood or nullification. I rerolled her in anarchy so it'll take a while (standard is level 59).
Certainly the ES delay is useless but you don't take those you'd take the 3 ES nodes and evasion.

I'm looking into the possible benefit of grabbing the spell damage nodes (and lightening) leading to the shadow and what I'd give up for those nodes.

If you don't take diamond skin there is an elemental resist (6%) just below the buffs nodes as well as an extra 15% fire (which is what counts in RF) if it's needed. So, resist-wise not too worried.

If you forego the crit chances (still gives a 10% overall chance to crit) and some multipliers you can do both and it'd look something like this

Also: I noticed on the spreadsheet the theplash that it's missing the calculation from bonus life.
