Post aura rage here. I will lock any other aura thread I see.

I love the look of the new auras!

Much better performance wise, and much more fitting with the setting and general art direction of PoE. I always thought the old auras made the game look like a circus.

Thank you for this excellent change :-)

So after the update removing the majority of the detail on auras, I was thinking that I prefer if it was the way it was before. But I understand that people would rather have it simplified. So, my idea is to give the option to have the auras the way they were, or the updated way. It could be a simple tick box in the options menu, under graphics or UI. Just my two cents into auras.

Wrath and anger looks worse than i can handwrite it in paint (which is TERRIBLE by the way lol).

Make both versions (old and new) as an option! I will gladly use old look when i play in solo at ALL times. New look looks like its being made by some D- kid game dev team.

I'm a summoner myself, and while I'm not horrible put off by the change to the way the auras LOOK, I'm really annoyed that only one aura shows on allies. It'd make more sense to me if it was the other way around, with auras simply not displaying UNLESS they're on allies (they display on the buff bar at the top).

I currently can't play this character because I rely on making sure my minions are in range of my auras and all I can see is a little red ring here and there. One solution that I think would be awesome would be a way to toggle a display that shows the edge of your aura radius (the lowest range aura only, not several rings).
Maybe there's a middle ground? Not quite as simple as they are now, but less detailed than they were previously. The main change being a brightness and noticeability increase.
I might be overestimating how complicated the previous animations actually were, though. They might have been shockingly simple.

I like the auras on -other- things to be more simple. As the originator of the aura, either is fine by me. But I don't care to see every one of our party's 20 zombies covered in Anger, Wrath, and Hatred balloons.

After playing for a couple of days I can say the change to performance is non-existant in my case. My FPS still drop to 15 in areas where they dropped before the patch.

What's your case? There are a lot of extremes here. Are you partying? Summoning a lot of creatures? Keeping up one aura on yourself alone? Four auras on yourself and your best friend?

It's probably important as Beta testers to keep this kind of thing in mind when we post in the feedback forums.

I posted this and got locked in 30 seconds flat lol:

Honestly it kinda bothers me that I even need to bring this up but...the Aura changes...terrible. Absolutely awful. Part of the appeal of this (and any) good game is the game play, content, and "coolness" factor. The auras were cool. Part of the appeal of leveling a new toon was being able to sport them in later content.
Listen. I'm only gonna say this once. Lean in close GGG devs....I'll whisper it in your ear: "THE SUREST WAY TO KILL YOUR PLAYER BASE IS TO TAKE TAKE TAKE TAKE AND THEN TRY TO SPIN IT LIKE IT'S A BENEFIT TO US AND IF WE THOUGHT ABOUT IT WE ACTUALLY LIKE IT"

Blizz/Activision has been talkin to us like this for years. Jay Wilson told us on a weekly basis how stupid we were for not understanding / liking his nerfs. (remember when they killed attack speed and 'explained' how much better it actually was and then arrogantly told us 'aren't you thankful'?)

Point being...please don't make this your slide down the dangerous road of "we know what's best" for our player base. Were here because of great (make that fantastic) gaming. Please don't spoil it. Not now. Wake up....slap yourselves on the forehead and say "Holy s*** did we seriously think our player base was going to accept the new aura graphics??", and then restore them. Now.
I don't expect I'm going to have to say this again or so help me I'll turn the car around right now and you can bet you can forget about ice cream if that happens...........
Not everyone can play on their family computer each time so anything to cut down on performance is welcomed and intuitive; I travel so I have to use my laptop and this game burns my CPU like nothing else-- I also think the new designs are sleek and modern.

The same rants would exist if GGG had switched the designs (1st aura designs become the 2nd, and 2nd become the original); this is all hot-air
