Post aura rage here. I will lock any other aura thread I see.

I think these new aura effects were made for April fools, but patch was delayed so we see them now.

Decent joke GGG, now bring back old ones.

I haven't seen the new auras in the game yet (just the screenshots), but I can totally see the point in changing the way they used to look. Not only because of performance, but also the rainbow theme didn't fit the rest of the game.

Yeah purity im not such a big fan of. I had spent like 3 hours mucking round trying to get get it right but just gave up haha. I hated the old one though so it wasn't really a step up or down. For me anyway. At least its more optimized and less rainbow.

yeah I only shrunk grace a little to fit the size of the new auras. It was all goods apart from size. Small , noticeable and gets across the point of what it does. Some of the newer ones could have done that better but I was starting to run out of ideas haha. Also the more details I added the bigger and bigger they started to get again :P

Sorry Russell, but so far these 2 posts are the ones that really scared me in this topic. What you are basically saying is "guess what, I had to change it... had no clue what to do.. slapped on some random animation on each, since I have hardly any time.. and we tossed it over to the live realm". I sure hope you are a lot better then this, because right now it actually does feel like some 12 year old kids are running GGG not knowing how to run a professional business.

Even stating you don't like Purity in it's current form, simply shows this change wasn't ready yet. Are you going to change it again in the future, meaning people will have to get used to it again??

Sorry, GGG really dropped the ball on this one if you ask me :(.

I loved the old ones, I really dislike the new ones.
I agree, the game has to be playable on most computers, but the ''low'' setting shouldn't be the only one available. Don't forget that PoE is a video game, not a word processor. Some players bought a gamer rig and would like to enjoy it.

definitely make this an option, please do not make this a micro-transaction purchase as others have suggested. Why further penalise people with half decent rigs simply to cater for the lower spec users?

I have nothing against low system specs, in fact the more inclusive the game the better. I play on a lower rig when mobile with gfx all at the lowest settings, but I really like being able to crank up all the detail when using my main home rig.... have been very dissapointed with the recent gfx demotion.... those auras were beautiful. Really couldn't care if they "communicated" what they did or not, they looked superb, especially when a character could use multiple auras.

It surely cannot be that difficult to allow a client-side option to turn on advanced auras? Those who want to minimise any lag can happily reduce it on their clients.... everyone's a winner

TLDNR:
PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK... lol

Like in every game before my motivation starts growing, the cooler my char looks.
With this amazing aura stacking of 7 my char just looked awsome for me. I loved playing
him.

That was the reason why i model edited in WoW before. It's just a personal preference of mine
and i understand people complaining about fps problems. But not everyone got problems with
them including me, so please give us an option to enable them, just for us to see, if you
want.

Maybe it's just me and it doesn't matter, but i'm not going to play my charackters any longer cause my fun is gone..

--------------------------------------------
and to quote Russel from a other Thread

The plan is to have your character looking cool rather than the planets spinning around him.

These auras are actually more detailed. They just arnt wtf huge.
--------------------------------------------

I dont get how the hell i should make my char look cooler? I got the ice crown from the
microtrans but most armors in this game dont look good Oo. If you like the style of your char
and the new auras ok, but dont force the rest of your playerbase to like it too....

ok enough rage, bye

I don't think I missed the point... I can see the new auras telling us something already, and that's day 1. The best 'communicating' one is Purity, the most 'iconic' (and ugliest imo) one. In the end I don't think it's too important to have obvious effect 'icons' as long as the auras are distinctive. When the things are that obvious the game becomes a cartoon from which the current aura change intentionally moved away if I understand what Russel told us.

The gigantic shields of Determination is excellent example of a mistake made in the past. And people demand the cartoon look back now when they removed it.

Edit: http://imgur.com/a/hU5Vb Album of all (I think) auras except Grace which didn't change much anyway.

I like the new auras, come at me.
old auras never really fitted into the game as they were often too bright and cartoonish. in dark environments the char looked like a running torch.

for the new animations: haven't really looked into all auras but the ones i saw (wrath, anger) looked rather cheap (or max optimized for performance on older computers).

i could imagine some new art which does look precious and special but at the same time fits into (and adds to) the supposed gritty athmosphere of the game.

i ack the change of the aura being around the char rather than on the ground so that it's visible in water.

I don't mind the new aura's the old aura's where just overkill IMO, with six people and spells you cant see crap all half the time.

Some times less is more.
