I went through Docks with a party who had perm alloc on. Saw this headpiece that was white/4l they left. I have it and now have Spark/MLeech/Fork linked. It's doing more than EK for now, which is making me have a lot more faith. :P The ML is only level 1 yet I can still hold down spark without mana issues, though I am currently running Clarity giving an extra 10.3 regen, without it I would run out.
My next goals will be to find some other 4l items, get some gems like the reduced mana and auras, I'll probably wait till Merc to look for a 5l+ chest for EK. I'll just leave out one of the MF gems with EK 4l. Oh I also just found this spell shield. GGG(R) should be good enough for EK, the red socket for a life leech gem I have as my defenses are a little lacking. Either way, definitely making progress now. :D |

Was interested until I saw this was not HC viable. I am still trying to figure out a high DPS EK based build that is HC viable. I can build an EK tank all day long, but I really hate spending so long killing stuff.

Tips / Help for my gear - having problems in act 2 merciless staying alive mainly getting hit mega hard.
I use hatred aura mainly, ill switch to disc or purity if i need to stay alive Have 5 passives saved atm for chaos inoc but my es is only around 1k

" Hey there. If you are able to get a couple ES upgrade. The ones you have right now are decent but a bit out leveled. You might be able to pick up a pretty high es chest 400+ or so for fairly cheap and that would scale greatly. Discipline might be an option for now til you are able to bump up your CS. Are your res maxed out? If so that is good and should definitely focus on an es upgrade or two. " I can't fully recommend the build I have on the first page for HC but maybe a Scion variant. EK will be a strong spell without many offensive passives or crazy spell damage gear. It is nice extra but in my opinion not required. I do not recommend it because if you accidentally crit a phys reflect monster that could possibly kill you instantly. This is all though left up to ones abilities to keep yourself alive and not make the mistake, but that one mistake can be costly.. Would be better to have the phys reflect covered for HC. Had a build posted but gonna work on it more.. Have to get golem's blood on the first VP build to be efficient.. This might offer a lot more survivability compared to ES Crit shadow but at the cost of spell dmg / lots of crit / other offensive nodes. Mind over matter just for fun. The idea is just to hit high phys reduction will still having some offensive nodes for EK. So a little bit of an update/query post here. Here's where my equips currently lie...
My offense is somewhat okay (question about this after) My defenses however aren't so great. I find myself dying quite often and not too sure how I should go about beefing myself up. I followed the 51 point skill tree, and started on the 76 earlier. I bee-lined for the shield cap/regen rate node to the right of CI and also got Doom Cast while I was there. Figured the increased crit chance would make my killer crits even more often, which it does as far as I could tell. Still, my defenses are lacking...  Offense. So far I can pretty much 2KO most mobs apart from yellows/bosses/sturdy blues. Main thing is mana, which isn't that bad. I just wait a couple seconds/chug a potion, I only run Clarity atm which leads me to my next point. What's the best way to get a hold of a 5l chest for EK? Is it best to buy one? Craft one? Hope for one to drop? What do I even look for other than 5l? Also I notice myself dying a few times to reflect, how do I stop this from happening before I die and then realise it. " Hey there. For defense you could use some ES upgrades. As far as 5L chest, it can be much cheaper to trade for a 5L chest. I would recommend eva/es with highest ES possible and res if you need it too. Eva/es so it will be easier to get the green sockets on the chest. If you get a pure ES chest base it might eat up chromes trying to get it.. But it could have higher energy shield. Phys reflect is the bane of the build, have this throughout the post. You need to pay attention to the gold outwards spikey aura and not cast on it with EK. Just try to use that spark link you got for the phys reflect monsters. With spark + fork and some crits it should kill them decently. With the passives and gear another spell will scale just the same as EK. An option would be to drop increased crit and use mana leech, then you might be able to use discipline aura for more ES. I really recommend fitting mana leech into the link and trying out disc for the extra survivability. I hope this helps, sometimes gear / rng can be a total bitch and not drop anything useful for you.. Have to make the best of it though or look for little alternatives that might allow more freedom with gear or ways to get more stats from what you have. That's the thing though. I would have Mana Leech on my EK, but I haven't seen anything with the required slots for it. Then I would try out not using Clarity as it wouldn't be needed (hopefully) EK atm costs 44 mana.
How much could I expect to pay for a 5l chest? Currently have about 8 chaos which have dropped. I should probably look into a IIQ gem, too, though I hear they're a bit more expensive as gems...I had 2 IIR's drops so. =D |

" Umm it really depends on the stats for the 5L. You can probably get a decent once for around 8 chaos. Try to get one with higher energy shield to help you survive if possible. If you are on normal I can give you an IIQ gem. Hopefully something will drop with the sockets and links for you to fit in mana leech. That might allow you to use discipline. Message me Terrex in game for an IIQ gem if you are on normal. |

Alright that will be amazing. IIQ will definitely help a lot. I'll look around the trade forums/channel when I finish work, see what I can find. Getting a 5l woollen be a massive change to my survivability thanks to aura changes. ^_^
