im level 63 in act 2 merc and only have around 2100 ES, I have 6 skill points saved up. Do you think now is the time for CI? im pretty broke so buying a heap of ES gear right now would be kinda hard to do

Hey Kicksome,
as mentioned earlier in this thread, i specced into CI even before i reached 2k ES on my Shadow, i am currently lvl69 and sitting at around 2100 ES including the ES nodes past CI.
For me it felt just fine even when i had around 1800 ES because in some areas the Chaos immunity will do much more for you then having another ~500-1000hp.

There are still areas/mobs which might be challenging with that low ES, but nothing a summon skeletton totem couldnt handle.

Id still say it depends on your preferrences, if you took some HP nodes and got even more then 1k hp you might want to wait a bit.
If you go for CI now id make sure to carry some good granite flask, because some ranged packs will be able to stunlock you to death within seconds, but a granite easily solves that.

The Wand i found yesterday on my lvl36 witch in Cruel/Ledge... never thought of finding an upgrade for my 69 shadow there :D
The 16% faster projectiles i found in merciless ledge while grinding.
The Flaks where crafted using lots of alterations, but they are well worth it.
Everything else i kind of mediocre, some items are even very bad.
Currently at 4k EK dps with all buffs up (3frenzy charges).

TLDR:
Just try it. For me it worked with 1800 ES. As long as you can kill stuff quickly and dont have to facetank for 2minutes it should work

This should be more then enough ES to go CI, definitely. The 4 points behind it should give more then your total HP assuming you have around 600 with no HP passives / maybe bit more from hp on gear.

Hey guys, I am going to make a EK Shadow following this guide. I was wondering if anyone has any spare skill gems like EK itself, anything that's helpful for this build as I don't currently have the EK gem. If not, no worries. Thanks.

EDIT: Also which build should I be looking at to use, the Current level 87 build or the build summary one below it? One has more ES while the other has more Crit.

Also now have the EK gem, no support gems or the other though.

For the starting builds I would follow the ones I got posted near the bottom of the post up til the 76 note or 85 passive note. Once you reach this point you can further spec your character however you'd like. I went for more ES itself just to be a bit tankier. My build should be prety close to the 85 and 76 passive ones posted though, the one at the very top. The differences might be that I dropped a little bit of crit for more ES.

Your calculations are a bit off.. you are doing 12.077 phys dmg(2982*4.05) per crit and 2899 cold damage per crit(716*4.05).. i have no idea where you got 120k phys and 28k cold from O_O
