Unofficial Path of Exile Mac Client - Download - v.2 Released

SOLVED!
Yes there is config file that sorts it all out. Screen settings in WINE do not seem to save the data correctly .

How to:

1. goto: Documents>My Games> Path of Exile
2. Edit production_Config.ini - change this bit(lines 7 & 8) to any numbers so that you can see the UI in the game:
resolution_height=173
resolution_width=192
3. Run the game, now you change settings in game.

From now on they should be saved correctly.[/quote]

I needed to make the values larger for it to work for me to be visible. But once I got to that point I was unable to do anything. Still trying to figure it out :/

won't let me open the config file says there is no application set
nvm i got it will this fix the freezing and lag now??
for me the mac port dont work. same 300% story - and no way to change. so the makers got some money for me cause of this port - to bad its not working.

i will NOT go for bootcamp - hope you still work on it - or the makers will care for it.
I let the file go through its download of the PoE file and then started it. It took me several restarts of file to get it to run correctly. (No specific errors, just stalls or unresponsive mouse.)

Once it did start running I logged in and created a character but I found that resizing the window manually (by dragging the corner) caused serious issues with mouse accuracy. I couldn't attack or select objects because my cursor's position was being falsely interpreted by the client. When I restarted again and used the options menu to resize this was much less of an issue, but I should note that the accuracy of the cursor is still very low. I have to click below everything to get what I want. This is particularly challenging in the dialogue windows.

So far I'm hoping that the general clunkiness of the game (slow response, interrupted attack animations) is just the consequences of the port and not how the game plays natively on windows.

I'm very thankful, though, to have any chance to try the betas, so thanks so much for your efforts!
I got online but now anything typing isn't working.. :/ Window size back to normal though...

Edit: ok I logged out and back in and text stuff is bad to normal, weird :/

Edit: worked once then when I quit and re-opened it was back to the tiny window

I'm on a Mac Pro (mid 2010), OSX 10.7.4

First off, a huge thank you to the developer for making this possible. I mean it.

Installer: Very inconsistent launching: launch but dock bounce forever, launch but no windows open, etc. Force quit that popsnizzle every time until it behaves. Once the installer is running, most steps ("Allocating...") took a very long time sitting at a full progress bar. Just be patient.

Downloading: It started out claiming to be downloading a 147MB file and then (as many others reported) blew past it. I got weirded out at around 700-800% completion and almost 1GB downloaded and force quit it. Many false relaunches later, the download properly resumed and displayed 3.5GB to go. I knew the total game size was 4-5GB so I let it go and everything finished properly.

I moved the downloaded folder with the installer to my Games folder. I have also found PoE files in ~/Documents/My Games/Path of Exile/ (why? so random) but haven't yet placed where it downloaded everything else.

Since then, I've been launching (and force-quitting) that same downloader file until it starts the game.

Running: There is a long (2+ minute) black load screen with GGG logo, then the login screen.

On screen resolution: I first tried fullscreen at native resolution (2560x1440) but I wasn't able to minimize (cmd-tab) the game. I also had some crashes in the graphics settings when I was flipping fullscreen mode on and off. Ugh. I settled on windowed mode, which lets me move the game out of the way. I had some tracking inaccuracy running in windowed mode at native resolution, so pick a resolution near (but less than) your native size.

Other than the above menu crashes, I've had 2+ gameplay crashes in ~20 hours playing. Generally it otherwise feels stable enough. I have to stop now because I get invested in my chars and there are various beta wipes ahead, but I've really enjoyed the game and I'll be back for open beta :)

I saw this too and I'm fairly sure it's tied to changing the resolution. Best to pick one and stick with it :) I haven't seen any click inaccuracy since I stopped changing resolution.

I'm playing Witch and I get interrupted a ton as well. It feels WAD, so minimize facetanking and consider cast speed % passives? I'm not sure I'd say the response feels unusually slow though.

i just tried to log in again, but when I launched the executable the window size was not much bigger than one of my desktop icons. I tried resizing manually but the resolution didn't increase and no clicks were registering. It isn't the initial allocating window but the subsequent GGG logo with loading at the bottom that is so tiny.

I'm not a computer whiz by any measure, so I'm not sure what I need to do to fix this new error.

Edit/ This fix solved my problem when I entered 900x1600. Thanks!

I tried the latest downloads and the installation went pretty smooth for me. Downloaded 4G of file and started the game with a long pause at the loading screen. Between areas I could waited for almost a min to load the map, and sometimes the client will crash. So literally I can't play the game at all as it will crash and it loads an area for really long time. I wonder if there is anyway to speed things up?
Not sure if this is even paid attention to or not anymore, but I wanted to give a report of a major crash bug.

I can play the game, and it runs pretty smoothly with a lot of crap turned off for me and low resolution (I have a crappy graphics card on my MBP (go figure)

Anyway, when I try to go into the "The Coves" zone, everything runs alright, but the exact moment I use a skill or ability, it immediately crashes, or locks up and I have to quit or restart.

Not sure what it is about that zone over all the others, but can't get beyond the first enemy.

Hope this is something fixable. If not, I will try something else hopefully, heh.
