(Old league) Cut-throat testers wanted

It's not enough to bring back my poor Marauder. Oh well, he was only going to live an hour anyway.
Was good fun, I did fairly well as an ice witch up to level 8.
Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

That's what I did too. Wanted to freeze people trying to gank me.
My observations:

It sucks to lose your gear, but it sucks even more to lose your skills. Maybe death should not drop skill gems, even unsocketed ones? It would make getting back into the game prohibitively difficult to lose your items and then die before even getting enough gear to equip your gems again, and it feels gimmicky to stash them until you find new gear with the proper slots.

Physical damage seemed to be king, specifically phase run + dual strike. Maybe the low level damage scaling can be increased for spells or elemental damage only?

I enjoyed the fighting and general cut-throatedness of it all, and look forward to a longer league this weekend.
My notes are:

- Don't show unallied players on the map
- Fix problem with zoning/portalling
- Suppress the person has entered/left messages
- Investigate whether EU players see NA instances

Holy *shit* that was good fun. You'd think from my other posts that I dislike partying, pvp, etc...but now and then, a level playing field and a wholesale massacre with D1-level repercussions for death is exactly what I'm up for.

There's a lot of balance work to be done (phase run+dual strike, my my), but for a test, that was anything but terrible.

Way to go, GGGuys.

EDIT: I'm still all in favour of a simple alert sound if someone has invaded the zone. Rather than give the hunted an advantage, more often than not it's a total psyche-out and for about three seconds, the hunted is about as useless as a rabbit.

K. That was a blast! Gotta do it again soon!
Thanks Chris and GGG for this preview of the great things to come!

Yeah. phase-run and dual-strike or heavy strike was killer.

I honestly think HC cutthroat will be more competitive because the character turnover will be much higher, and the level gaps should be much closer. There will be a natural incentive to take out the highest level players in the league, especially if they start ganking people...

With default, I felt like I was starting over each time I died anyways, so I'm not sure how the mechanic is intended to play out.

Again, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, having only HC cutthroat takes away a lot of the looting concerns. Everything drops. End of story.

Oh. And we will definitely need a new column in the Ladder stats: Kills. ;-)

<edit>
In partied mode, as mentioned in the post below, it would be useful for teammates/enemies to display a party/enemy aura on the actual gamefield. At a glance, with only five (well, six) classes, it's hard to tell which avatar is your friend, and which one is the one you should be attacking...

I for one don't mind the map markers for enemies. I do wish that your allies had the green halo around them all the time though. Because when a lvl 3 duelist was attacking me and my lvl3 duelist party-mate I had no idea which one was which at a glace. it made the battle even more hectic.

Thanks to whoever the Ranger was that was running around with me and my buddy Tiger_Woods. Was funny
