What?

The gem gives critical strikes a CHANCE to give you a charge, it's not every crit like Voll's. If you want definite frenzy charges just use Frenzy and stack a lot of crit chance, you'll get a charge every single time it hits, and whether it crits or not is just a bonus..

Survivability changes are being handled separately from the addition of the new supports.


I'm extremely happy to hear that, and thanks for the reply. The game in it's present state is an absolute blast, and just hearing that there is something in the works for melee survivability makes it even more fun to me, being a huge melee fan in general. Taking into consideration past patches and balancing fixes, I'm sure this will be done right, I'm a huge fan of the whole dev team at GGG.

Yes, that's what bothers me. I feel like it will just be a shot in the foot to build diversity. It's not like it's a particularly interesting support gem concept.

Whoever said physical dmg is left in the dust - you're doing it wrong.
Phys. dmg is fine, survivability is fine. (i've got 6 endurance charges + granites = ~85% dmg reduction, can hit 90% easy with better gear/determination/whatever)
~13k dps heavy strike (5l), majority of which is physical, Leap slam 6k dps (5l), also physical mostly.

Warlord's mark gives you endurance charges AND survivability via lifesteal and mana leech.. idk what more you want.


Well I'm an elemental melee build which makes the use of Warlord's Mark pretty much useless. What I'm lacking is that most of the HP leech comes from Physical Damage, but Elemental Damage doesn't get that much. It's horribly hard to adjust a build like that with the current passive skill nodes and skill gems (apart from Life Leech gem which is almost a must).

If you want to buff melee.. make Brutus' hook skill a player one! :p and with an option for multi-(projectile)chain!

I certainly hope melee splash wont stack with sweep to hit the same enemy multiple times if they are close to each other.

I doubt projectiles will be able to splash, initial attack yes.

Well, cyclone + splash would result in a gazzilion of hits in a closely packed crowd, a gazzilion of rather weaksauce, ticklish hits, might be, but hits all the same.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
