My thoughts on group play....

The incentives are not there.

Coming from a player who doesn't need a group for survival or killing speed there are NO incentives to play with a pub group.

The Problems

The quantity bonus is only 50%. This means as more people join you get less and less loot per player. At 6 players you're getting 350% loot which is about 58% per player. Meaning you get A LOT less than you would solo.

Ninjas will grab everything

No one does maps in pub because even if you say loot to name, maps to maker, everyone steals everything. Some people learn this the hard way and never do a pub map again.

Loot clutter, in a full game there's so much garbage all over the ground I can't even click without picking items up and I can't even see enemies because my screen is LITERALLY nothing but items.

There are too many spell effects going on at once and the game lags like crazy.

THIS!

Too much loot clutter can't even see shit!

It is going to be so great when the loot is assigned to the player it was intended for.I can't wait.THANK YOU We appreciate it.
Instanced loot FINALLY.

GIVE EVERYONE THEIR OWN LOOT.....WHAT THE FUCK ARE THE DEVS RETARDED OR WHAT?
Chris seems to be a name everyone tosses around..fix this shit chris...ffa loot hc and my own loot on regular how fucking hard is that?

your name says it all but for my understanding of people getting wise with age i hope you're not born 63. if yes my advise is spending your retirement money to program your own game and keep fixing it to your needs.

as for the changes i'm really happy that names are gone from items. it should have been changed as soon as people started claimed ownership over items with an expired timer though.

i'm happy with the increase of the timer as my experience was that my chances of getting a fair share of items dropped significantly if i played on any other but the european server next to my location so i do think people with a bad connection to their nearest server will highly profit from this change.

so a overall "well done ggg"

age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
Now all we need is to remove blocking when trying to get your item so it doesnt take 15 clicks sitting next to it to get it
with every update game becomes a little more carebear.

go big or go home ggg, stop the compromising and make pure ffa an option or make HC pure ffa only
The game does not adapt to you, you adapt to it.
Hit and Miss imo.

It was nice that it is less cluttered.

I liked the removal of the timers.

However, the removal of names i'm not sure I agree.

I never play in public parties because its frustrating having to try and filter through all the loot while fighting, I've heard of several bad experiences my friends have had and I do not want to experience that at all.

As it is I only party with friends that I trust and have played with for a long time.

In a group of more than 2, it is difficult to distinguish who's exalted/chaos/divine/regal it is on the floor. These do NOT drop very often in our groups, and I believe that if it is allocated to you, it is yours. These are not the orbs that can be collected by everyone, then "split" between you guys.

My group preferred having the names on the items so that if say 1-2 people noticed it drop and it wasn't theirs, they would respect that it was for the other person (even if he wasn't there to see it in the first place). We would then say in chat "that exalt is yours dude". With that came a mutual respect among our groups that everyone respect the EXPENSIVE currency that was allocated to a player.

I personally am a fan of giving the option of the group leader to set timers, even to indefinite. There are some classes that are in the front of the fray and others that stay back.....each of those players should have an equal chance to get something that is allocated to them.

If loot that was allocated was set to indefinite, then there is NO doubt and conflict among friends or even strangers playing with each other. Make it so that if that person zones out, it turns FFA. Who would argue against that?

Only hardcore loot-ninjas would not like this....or people who prefer to have their loot truly ffa (which i don't think is the majority).

Just my 2c

- To mitigate loot blocking, increase the pickup radius of items so there is more room allowance to pick it if blocked by multiple characters.

When you click on an item, should be able to run to it accurately and attempt alternative paths(if blocked) to pick the item up.

- Loot clutter is a huge spam. Either organize it in bounding boxes or drop less..

- Increase timer duration to compensate for 300-600ms pings.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. My friends and I only play in our own little group. We relied on the named system, giving the item to whom ever it was listed for even after the timer ran out. We dislike the way it is now. I like the idea that some have mentioned where the party leader has control over it.

Having the names on the items made it a lot easier to know whose item it was. I play with a group of friends and now instead of saying hey _____ this was yours now its a process of going hey something dropped here.. well its not mine... then everyone has to say it wasn't theirs. Honestly its just frustrating for people who play with trustworthy people. Please have an option to show the names.
I understand the need to keep the cutt throat edgy feel in POE. But please give us selective loot options. POE has been a great game but having selective loot options goes a long way from many player types. Sticking to one's philosophy is one thing, but catering to a wide ranger of gamers playstyle is always welcomed.

My friends and I like to co-op. We are always looking out for each other's items. Give us a choice of switching item owner's name during drops. Now we just have more conflict during loot because we do not know who's loot it is. We play on mumble and always say put who's loot dropped. It shouldnt be hard to understand that this game does promote very good cooperative play. Why not be truly coop?

Now my friends and I end up squabbling over whose loot that dropped. We have more frustrations and keep complaining on our mumble channel. Why cant you just make it simple for certain coop players. All the changes but still none address frustrations that sharing-friendly players will like.

If you want it to be intense, you can just have the cutt throat feel set to hardcore leagues only. My friends and I play like a true carebear. Let us truly play like it with longer base loot time like 3-5s and allow group leaders to set names to loot. Still it is also no brainer to allow ability to choose loot options by group leader too.

Not everyone plays in PUGs. Regular co-op players would prefer some better friendliness.
