Yay, more 6S/5L+ (now in blue) that ranged chars won't have a shot at. :/

I like the changes overall, though. I personally would love to see 5L/6L/6S get assigned, no matter the color.

These items are extremely valuable and should fall under the same guise as currency.

Yeah sure and unifentified magics with 99life and/or 150+%ed too ? You really didnt think that to the end.
I just tried it on Vaal, 6 man group, increased quantity, rarity. It helps, but it's still hard to pick everything up, and click on the things I want alongside the 1000 blues, that dropped. Maybe you could increase the size of the name of the items allocated to you. The increased timer helps, but I'd be happy if it'd be even more; in the Vaal run, I couldn't pick everything up. Maybe 5 seconds. I don't think, it really slows down parties that much. The best thing would be Party Loot System Options. So the party leader could set the loot system (FFA, Timer, Instanced Loot), and he could adjust the timer. Friends could use FFA, or short timer, and public parties could use Instanced Loot.
Nice improvemnet!

However, most ppl still would prefer if the leader of the party was able to choose how he wants the loot to be.

IMO, the best way would be if the countdown started ONLY after there were no more mobs on the screen. This way ppl could concentrate on killing stuff and only then worrying about loot. No one wants to keep looking at all the trash dropping while they are trying to kill the mobs.

Regards!
I think removing the names is a very bad idea.

A lot of groups like the idea of the loot being auto allocated.
Now you have no idea which loot was for who, creating a lot of frustration.

I have now played a couple of hours and got to try the new loot system.
IMO it's a huge step forward.
Playing with group, especially in "no ninja" parties is very time consuming and frequently loses its advantage over solo play because people are too busy arguing over loot.
This system gives everybody their fair shot at picking up their item, if they don't get it then it's open game.
I love that you guys consider the experience of the game, not just solely the loot.
I like getting my drops, I also like it not to take FOREVER when I'm lvling up or doing runs.
I say all this as someone who actually ends losing more than I gain playing public games.
I was already happy with the loot system and you have made it even better.

Thank you GGG!

edit: I'm a big fan of the no names. If the person who the item dropped for doesn't get it in time then the name on it is irrelevant. Far less screen clutter and much easier to click on my loot.

no names on them will be quite annoying, in our map group we rely on the names to allocate the gear that drops :/ we all cant see every drop at the same time. gentleman style just got harder...

This.

I appreciate that GGG seem to be listening, but to be honest, this change means nothing to me. All grouping is still a form of forced PvP.

Guess I'm still sticking with soloing and RL friends games only.
In a very grind heavy game the death penalty equates to...more grinding.
I think the best thing to do would be to give the party leader the options for the loot like so many other games. Then the leader could tweak these to his preference.

  • Was it easier to read what items drop now that fewer are allocated and the size of the item hovers doesn't change?
  • Does the increased allocation duration help enough in terms of being able to grab items in time assuming you react quickly?

1 Yes, easier to see what items are dropping without the blues being allocated, but the size of item nameplates not increasing is something I don't really like because 1) bigger nameplates are easier too see and 2) easier to missclick (ended up with a bag full of whites).

2 Yes, personallly I didn't really have problems with getting my loot on time, the only problem is when group is abit spread out and fighting different mobpacks so this change will help, was even able to get a GMP dropping for me today on the other side of my screen and noticed it abit late.
I dont like the timer being removed tho, the timer shows me if I have enough time to be able to get it or not, it just feels a bit silly to run to the other side of your screen to see your item getting taken by someone else.

I do think the increased allocation duration is a good change because of reason above and it reduced the crying in public games, wich is one of the most annoying things in this game imo.
Also I think having a FFA option in public games would be awesome.

Just my opinion...
