BUILD OUT OF COMMISSION....NO LONGER VIABLE DUE TO IDIOTIC CHANGE TO IRON REFLEXES
" I don't know what to tell you dude. I have followed your point placements for each 10 levels and have been playing the way you have recommended. I do usually play solo and like to try to play with self found gear. Honestly this is all I have found, can't really blame me for that. |
|
" the point placement is not a recommendation its a guide, I stated in bold letter the order of which those points are selected and what major passives you rush for first will be dependent on your gear... :) Try to craft yourself some better items :P i mean theres no way you can tell me at level 50 you never found a Rare chest -_-..impossible |
|
I had a rare chest but it was from level 20 lol. The links for the blue chest are better than wearing the rare chest.

|
" but that would be an example of itemization priorities..Sometimes you need to take a hit on your links if it means gaining a lot more survivability. It will all work itself out in the end :P |

Thought I'd chime in with a couple of questions/comments if no one minded, since I've been following this guide for my newest character (currently having a blast at Lv47). Note that I'm still pretty new at the game, so if my questions seem kind of out there, I apologize:
-If Frenzy/Elemental Hit sucks for single-target DPS reasons, why do we even run it instead of, say, Poison Arrow? Is it strictly for the frenzy charges, or possibly because PA won't scale as well with tri-elemental bows? I've been bouncing back and forth between Frenzy and Poison Arrow throughout my leveling in the 30s and 40s, but I keep coming back to PA because the damage seems to stack up a lot better, and the chaos damage is clutch against mobs with high ES (especially orange mobs - hey General / Piety!). Would you ever possibly recommend making the switch permanent if Frenzy wasn't very useful? -If we're intending to grab Resolute Technique, tacking on crit supports to our Bear Traps seems a little out of place. I know you've addressed this before in your thread, but it's still there on the front page; not sure if this is intended, or if it was simply looked over at one point. Optimally, would Added Fire and Added Lightning be the two supports we'd want the most (since Lightning would scale with our passives and that occasional Static Blow)? -I think it should be emphasized to get the BM passive as soon as it's possible to run LGoH with your LA. Throughout the end of A2, going into A3 in Normal, and onwards from there I was having *huge* problems keeping any sort of mana, even while chugging pots constantly. My mana pool was only sitting at around 200 or slightly above, so skills were just sucking it up dry. After I got Blood Magic, though, the LGoH from LA and my passive life regen was more than enough to keep up with skill usage. (I know YOU probably already knew this, but...speaking from a new player reading your guide, it would be nice to stress the BM passive as being very, very important to get as soon as you can support LGoH from your gear links! It really makes the build explode in power going through Cruel difficulty!) |
|
" Poison arrow damage even worse, its horrible....I only keep it on hand for select few bosses. Frenzy is great for attack speed scaling on LA, and overall the damage sucks but its the next best thing next to bear traps... Mana issues is a problem for all classes leveling. I dont recommend going BM to early..but then again it takes me like 2-3 hours to get to level 40 :P If it takes you weeks then maybe you will have to adopt a playstyle like you have to suit it. Personally I like the early damage with weap ele so that my farm speeds are faster which makes leveling faster... Bear traps with crit gems are for the non resolute build if your going lionseye. I was assuming people would be smart enough to know that when the passive says (cannot crit) I wouldnt have to explain to them those gems would be useless :P As far as best choice for bear traps, fire damage is the best added gem I think cause bear traps are physical damage and added fire converts some physical to added fire..I also use lava lash passive which scales it even higher...I went for added chaos as the second because it was the only color socket I had and only gem I could put there. I am sure other gems are viable. People need to understand I create the build thread as a guide, not a MUST DO...There is room for flexibility in areas and I encourage people to try different combinations :) |

" This is honestly the reason I wanted to try this build, and I'm glad I did. Coming from a GS Mara it's a lot more fun so far up into level 46/Act 2 Cruel. The ASpd makes me feel like the worlds best Anti-Aircraft gun. :D Working on trying to prioritize my gear (shown below) but even with such sub-par found items I'm still tearing through things.

Spoiler
HP: 1329 (A couple of passive points away from the 2x12% nodes near Lava Lash)
(Tooltip DPS) LA DPS: 146.7 Bear Trap DPS: 1303.3 / 1218.7 Granted that could all be a lot better but it's getting me through. I have the feeling that Merc is going to kick me in the behind if I don't farm Docks/Craft for new gear. This is also my current build. I took the 8% an 24% nodes in Leather and Steel until I get to the Mara tree then going to respec out of them. BeautifulCritures - 62 Crit Dagger

Hey guys
I just played a freezing pulse shadow on hardcore and died to Piety in merciless at level 68. I need a change from freezing pulse and wearing ES. Now I'm not looking to just play Op builds I'm looking for something fun and different. I was fed up with how hard things were hitting me with little no no armour/ Ev. My questions are is this build or general path ( I get that you mould it to your play style / gear) strong end game for maps. And is I easy to play with average gear? I have lots of ES gear which I can sell for EV but that may take time. Any help appreciated and I look forward to hopefully start playing soon. Also my friend ( who also died to piety) used the taunting totem to great affect anyone else tried that? Thanks a lot |
