I agree with the posting cooldown but I disagree with the suggestion. Many times I find someone selling something I could use despite the fact that I wasn't specifically looking for it. If this were implemented a lot of people who might be interested in my items wouldn't see them due to filtering them out.

All we need is, as you mentioned, a mechanic that only allows 1 message every X seconds/minutes to be posted in the trade chat, as well as the forum trading mechanic GGG is working on.

The point is that you might not looking for gems at all, no matter what gem it is. Someone could filter it out. Furthermore you don't have to filter out anything if you don't want to. And you forget one thing: When people are leveling/grinding, they will most likely never see what you have posted (with the current system), because they have to concentrate on fighting and can't know if someone posted an item they are interested in. But if you adjust what you are looking for and filter everything else out, then you can concentrate on fighting/leveling but as soon as a tradechat message pops up, you search for a safe place and take a look at the item (because you know you might be interested in because the filter didn't filter it out).

This suggestion might actually lead to that people who are actively playing still buy your items. And like I said, not everyone is filtering stuff out. I suggest that the filter is always set back to "don't filter" after you logged out and in again. This way people will only filter stuff out when they are really looking only for 1 special thing and won't accidently run around with a filter on.

No, that won't be enough. In times were many people are playing, the chat is still gonna be flooded. It would be nice to have and I think it will happen, but I don't think it will help enough to make the chat more clear.

edit: Edited this in my first post:
- After every log out/in the filter is set back to "don't filter anything". This way people will only filter stuff out when they really look for something special. This is important, because otherwise people might actually always run around with a certain filter and forget to change it back to "don't filter anything" and miss some good items accidently even if they are not looking for something special.

I like the idea a lot. Just few corrections. PoE is ARPG not MMORPG :) Also my own suggestion is that GG just set up that a person can post once every 30 sec or something like that. That way there will be different items in trade chat and not the same one seeing again and again and again.

I changed it to Online RPG because I was talking in general about RPGs that have an economy. But thanks for pointing it out.

And I already made the suggestion to put in a timer (see additional ideas at the bottom). It has the exact same amount of time (30 seconds). :)

The problem is just, that even with such a timer, people post all their clutter in the tradechat and it is tiring to sit in the city and look for something you need. I mean, if you are a lvl 40 Mace Marauder with high life/armour, you're obviously not looking for axes or equipment with Evasion/ES or lvl 60+ Stuff... You could filter that stuff out easily because you know you're not interested in. This keeps your trade chat clean (in addition to the post timer) and you only see stuff that you might be interested in. This will improve your whole trade expierence alot and makes trading more fun because it's fast and intuitive. :)

Edited my first post. Had some grammar mistakes (I guess it still has, my english isn't that good) and the 3rd example screenshot had some serious mistakes I really had to correct.
Good ideas.

I'd like to add a con to the auctionhouse btw that it also floods the game with people who dont put any effort into it, just buying their stuff off others with minimal playtime, and so the sense of being unique for finding a unique is eradicated.

I think that is true. You don't have to care about getting used to the tradesystem or economy anymore. You just put your stuff in the auction house, wait some days and it sells automatically. No effort at all... A game for hardcore gamers shouldn't work like this, it's just to casual... Early (MMO)RPG's didn't have such trade mechanics and had a much better ecenomy then todays games like GW2.

I add this to the list. Thanks for pointing it out. :)
