Evasion Fun Fact
" That's a helpful formula. Why must I have math as my lesser trait, when this entire world is made out of numbers? *sigh* With all intelligence, insanity becomes the backdrop of the good man, and will sooner become what usurps the good man.
If you tell a truth that people don't want to hear, the truth will imprison you. What's the point of knowing the world, if the world never talks back and others don't listen? |

It would be interesting how each point of evasion effects Effective Health points vs attacks, because even though its insane to get 400x accuracy for 95% evasion you have to consider, that the number 95% has a ridiculous impact on EHP, because it gets 20 fold.
If you have only 30% evasion your EHP gets calculated like HP / (100%-70%) Not aware of the forumlar, but other games tend to work like that every point of evasion/armor adds a certain amount of EHP For instance: 1000 HP base every 100 evaion you get +50 HP Just to fight the myth that "evasion diminishes the more you get" because people often dont understand the math behind %. Also I like to state which increase is the most beneficial: damage reduction from 0->1% or from 99->100%? Obviously the one percent of the latter case is more valueable. I like how evasion works and also armor. Its a great thing that the devs came up with a system which makes both system "asymetrical". This is extremly important to make a game interesting. If armor and evasion work the same way it would be MEH. But in PoE its BRILLIANT, because each defensive concept has its own advantages which are not always obvious. Just to name a few: -Armor works vs physical spells -Evasion avoids elemental part of attacks and so on, there are a lot more |

The only problem with the high end of evasion is that going for it, you're pretty much sacrificing EVERYTHING to do it. All armor, all life, life regen, energy shield, damage, everything...and you still can't make it there. Though let's say somehow you did. You're dodging 19 of every 20 attacks, that 20th attack? It one shots you, 12x over.
The blind concept is interesting, combining it with the dodge nodes would take it even further. 35% evasion, 75% blind, 30% dodge....88.625% dodge. Though let's say we reached 95% evasion, 75% blind, 30% dodge...99.125% chance to not be hit by non-magic. Or in other words...you dodge 793 out of 800 attacks....and then you get one shot by that 794th attack. Which would be fine....ish...in softcore I suppose...hardcore it'd be a keyboard through the window moment, but in softcore it could...function. But it's a dream at this point. You will never reach that point under the current formula. |

" That's why i think its better to have like 20% ish physical reducion armor and about 30% (every 3rd att is evaded, rest are mitigated by 20%) ish evasion than converting everything to armor and having about 40% physical reduction which works crappy versus big hits (which are the things that matter the most in end game). Plus if you have lets say 30% evasion take arrow dodging and you have 60% evasion against projectiles which imo is a lot. I mean it doesnt really matter even if you have 60% physical reduction against monsters that hit you for few k damage that is gonna abosrb according to formula about 10% of the damage or so compared to flat 1/3rd evasion of every att which is actually 30%. Right now, I rely purely on evasion from gear (usually takes me to 50-55% chance relative to my level) and stack the fuck out of life. A/PA/AD of course. High block chance (usually aim for 50% at least). Permanent Temporal Chains, as I mentioned, greatly increases one's durability due to reduced incoming attacks. And then I use Whirling Blades to deliver blind to entire groups.
With the existing math, that should render me somewhere in the low 90s to be hit by melee attacks, and virtually invincible to ranged attacks. Naturally this method leaves no room for actual damage nodes, so it's all down to Viper Strike. And since I stack life, I skillgrimage down to Blood Magic. ...This is how I make evasion work right now. My shadow's path literally traverses three of the four corners of the map, to get Hex Master, Arrow Dodging and Blood Magic. Unfortunately there are still major issues. Blind has like, 12% chance to take, and you still have to hit with the attack that delivers it. And there are curse immune monsters. What do you think? Is my method a viable 'solution' to the problem, or am I just grasping at straws when we should be thinking about wood and brick? https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable. " I think enfeeble with quality is better since it reduces something about 77% accuracy of monsters plus damage and all the good stuff, which would help you way more with your evasion gear than temportal chains. Last edited by NagiSoi#1418 on Mar 12, 2013, 7:25:51 PM

" I've had the enfeeble vs temporal chains discussion with a fellow called Zakaluka quite a few times. In the end, neither walked away feeling the other was wrong. At skill level 16, quality 20%, enfeeble has 65% reduced accuracy. That's badass, it really is. And the other debuffs are amazing too. But... I choose Temporal Chains for two reasons. I gave one already. The other is that it greatly increases the duration of both blind and viper strike. I acknowledge that enfeeble looks better on paper, but Temporal Chains is much more thematically fitting with the evader, given that he or she is meant to be 'faster' than everyone else. The best way to simulate that is to permanently make everyone else slower. But if you can get Whispers of doom, why not use both and really have a ball? ...:) https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable. Huh. " What exactly makes you think so? There aren't that many evasion nodes in the tree. If you also want to take every Evasion/ES and Evasion/Armor node that would be a different story, but such a character wouldn't be viable for obvious reasons. It's entirely possible to get a decent amount of %Evasion (300ish%) and still have enough life and some damage nodes. I was actually planning such a build just yesterday (haven't started playing the character yet though). |

" I'd really like to see the Skilldrasil path you have planned. Every time I've gone pure evasion, I *have* sacrificed life and other important nodes. https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable. Huh. " Where i see temporal chains being superior is that you could actually run away from mobs every att in their mid swing since (if you can do that it is then probably superior) they are pretty slowed, but due to the nature of desync's and not always paying attention to surroundings it feels like it isnt that awesome , but then again like you said the debuffs benefint from them greatly. Well i guess sacrificing one ring for the extra debuff ring if you dont wanna spec that passive is better investment overall than some badass ring i guess since there is no ring that could give you more defensive capabilities than having two curses (temp and enfeeble on).
