Incinerate | 2 totems | CI | 2 curses | Awesome DPS with low gear requirement

What I ment by flame totem being better is that I cleared docks 5 times with flame totem and incinerate each. Flame totem was consistently faster each time. Now do keep in mind I'm still low level and that's why I was wondering if incinerate get's better later. Mana is a pretty big issue with flame totem though. I think that incinerate does more dmg the more hp the mobs have but since both kill relatively fast I do not have to wait for the ramping up on incinerate. I'm also thinking about using both and just using incinerate as a boss killer.

I have never actually tested flame totem. Mathematically it has to be weaker.

Maybe you were just in a spot where the dmg from FT was sufficient, while Incinerate needed a little ramp up and so ending up slower in comparison. FT being more "bursty" in this scenario.

Guess I'll have to test it myself sometime.


Would this build with shitty gear? I don't thibk I would even be able to afford a searing touch staff atm, trying to decide between incinerate, spark or EK for my dual totem build.

If you're worried about not having enough gear, incinerate is the way to go. You don't need many damage mods on your gear to make it powerful (although they certainly do help ;) ) .

Spark end game gear costs quite a bit for the good shit but scales very well with gear.

Haven't played EK so I wouldn't know about that.
I don't know if you all know or not but if the mobs are right in front of the totem, all 5 projectiles hit that single target so you can multiply the overall damage by 5. I run dual incinerate totems on top of having a crap ton of minions. Trust me his totems are out-damaging whatever totem you put out there. I also use searing touch for mine as well. Sure we are wasting the burning damage but we get +2 to fire skills. Also it's a chance to put 5-6L here as well as 5-6L on the chest for auras or minions if you run it. What I'm doing on my 63 witch. Don't die b/c I have 20+ minions. Allows me to not worry about CI as well. :)

Depends on the roll, rather cheap I would say.

If you absolutely can't find one, I have a spare one. Not the best roll and you'd have to take care of the sockets yourself. But I'd be willing to give you a bro-deal ;)

I have a 4S, no link ilvl 37 searing touch.

I also have a 5 link nice ES chest.

I am not exactly rolling in Fusings/Jeweller's. I am trying to decide if I should just 4 link the staff then use the 5L chest when I get to level 45, or if it is worth trying to 5L the staff for the +2 bonus but much added cost.

For endgame would dual wand be better anyway? So maybe not worth 5 linking the staff?

The only reason I'm sticking to my Searing Touch is the fact, that I don't have a 5L chest yet.

Having that staff is fun and all, but later a good shield or two wicked sick wands will be better.
Stat priority for DPS?

Cast speed > Spell Damage % > Fire Damage % ??

Does having mods like adds xx-xxx lightning damage (for example on a ring) affect incinerate? How about if it was on a weapon?

Ive been worrying about survivability since I play HC, but curious on the best way to increase dmg. Thanks
