Hatred

It seems this is a new effect since last time i played but there is now a bright white effect when attacking enemies with hatred. It also stacks with other spell effects like from reave and is pretty bad for my eyes. If possible it should be tuned down like spark effect was.
Happens with any Cold Damage btw. It's... Not that great.
So, I was looking to experiment with a hardcore self found character (for the most part because of necessity, not because of righteousness or arrogance) in the new 3-4 month league. There are aspects that I need to consider that I never had to consider in standard, like I can't assume that I will be getting any uniques or any special gear. In addition, gems will be very difficult to get so I really need to pay attention to what gems I want, and when they are offered to my character, rather than through a random drop. For example, I assume you recognize it is obvious that a hardcore, self-found character relying on a build having multistrike and numerous cast on damage taken supports is sort of silly. Anyway, I was planning on having a DW shadow with life, EB, some aura nodes, and wrath and hatred (which are intellect and dexterity gems). I am in the process of testing this character in regular hardcore. To my surprise, I noticed that despite hatred being an dex and intellect gem, it is not offered to shadow as a quest reward. This is quite puzzling to me. I'm not sure if there is any lore to justify this, but even more puzzling is that this gem is offered as a reward to marauder, which is a strength-based character and would seem far less suited to utilize this gem. I was wondering if this was intentional, or an oversight, that no player has bothered to bring to your attention (possibly because of the number of people that play standard and get gems real easily). If it is intentional, I was hoping that you would be so kind as to explain the lore and reasoning behind this, particularly the choice to offer this gem to marauder and not shadow. If upon further examination, this appears to either be an oversight or a design mistake, is it possible that you can change this in time for the new league? Thanks.

You need to kill Brutus on Normal to get a Hatred gem. :/ That is always really easy, regardless of league. Additionally, there's plenty of people in Standard that play self-found all the same.
This is why there's so much contention between Hardcore and Softcore. Drop it.

Hatred scales best with Phys Damage. People probably didn't mention it earlier because Marauders can use it well (two-handers all day every day), whereas Daggers don't really deal that much Physical Damage. I'd imagine that's a pretty decent part of the reasoning behind it, too, despite the requirements (which do indeed match the Shadow well).

Has something been changed to the Hatred aura that I missed in any patch notes.

Previously, when I've run hatred, many enemies have shattered. But since the recent patch and respec, this no longer seems to happen for any of my characters.
Monsters only Shatter when they are Frozen. If you have Resolute Technique and 0% Chance to Freeze, then you cannot Freeze nor shatter any monster. Crits should still easily shatter most mobs.
Think hes refering to random shatters that happen frequently in the past. I experianced it with even a weapon of 2 cold damage, no crit, no freeze chance auto attacks. Kills would shatter after damage took place... sometimes and frequent.
Thanks Viper

That probably explains it as I've respecced most of my characters post patch to have RT.

However what about summoners. I'm positive pre patch while running hatred my minions were shattering enemies. Or maybe I'm just remembering wrong.
Hatred level scaling is kinda week compared to anger/wrath IMO.

Like look, say I vaaled hatred to lvl 21, then I vaaled empower to lvl 4, vaaled boots to get +1 to socketed gems, so I get get hatred lvl 26 (more mana reservation), now compare lvl 20 hatred to lvl 26, its 36% vs 39% cold damage, wuuut? 3% for such investment...
