Any ETA on fixing these ridiculous AMD FPS drops? (e: Nvidia cards affected as well!)

+1, you people are ridiculous, buying cheap cards (very low quality chip-sets, and are relatively very cheap compared to non-OC quality VC) then complaining they heat up like crazy...

If you would've taken the time to read any of the posts you would know that 'good' graphics card suffer the from the same problem.

And since most people don't have a high end computer and cant/wont buy another card OR play on a laptop (like myself) and can't get a different card, your comment has added nothing to my thread.

But from all of us here at poor-fragile-shitty-computer-having-noobs Headquarters : We thank you
Ignore aintcare he's an obvious troll.
Bump.

Have you guys tried disabling the Post Processing effects? Just leave them off while you play?

I have everything off, no shadows and all on the lowest settings.

I have 100+fps in town and 70+ when solo'ing. In groups I just go from 40 to 3 and lower. When I press F1 after a fps drop/spike, I can see 1-40-3-20-2-25 (roughlt the frames every seconf for about 5 seconds,

Same pattern everytime...seems to be worst in MAPS and A3

It was mostly aimed at the 3 posters above me. None of which mentioned group play. Group play is fucked no matter what card you use. I was just offering a tip for single player mode!

Shadows: off
Antialiasing-Q: off
Textures-Q: medium
Texture-F: Trilinear
Tessellation: off (via CCC)
Post Processing: off
Screen Shake: off

Ice Shot / Spark / Flame Totem / Summons

Those are the main cause of FPS drop for me
At higher levels it is almost impossible to play in a group
i can drop to 8-FPS if anywhere near others

Tried all the tricks nothing works

Fix it
When my lvl 69 HC summoner witch died this week to Piety merc in a huge freeze frame, I tried to solve the problem.

My PC specs are as following:
Intel 6750 Duo Core
ATI Radeon HD 3870 (Powercolor OC)
4 GB of Ram
Win7 64bit

I was using the 1152x864 resolution, high details, AA, AF, PP, shadows, vsync off.

On these settings I got ~50 fps but heavy frame time spikes whenever certain particle effects occur. This issue seems well-known.
My card only has 512 MB vram, so I downloaded a prog that can read the vram usage and show it to me in an overlay display. It seems whenever my vram is full, it has to be cleared (or copied to my slow HDD swapfile), which decreases FPS significantly. (slideshow hoorah)

I also disabled Windows Aero to get more available vram. It seems though as if the client doesn't clear the memory very often, resulting in accumulating data up to the vram limit. Currently I'm trying to figure out how much these fps drops can be avoided by using settings that won't reach my 512 MB capacity.

On another note, my task manager shows RAM usage of up to 2.7 GB for the client. It's a 32 bit application, can it even use that much? I read that those can't use more than 2 GB, even on a 64 bit system.

Testing further ..
Tried the game for the first time in awhile last night thinking it might have been fixed, but no, 16fps dips on a 7970 is just not good enough for a game of this quality.
