The Corruption Chamber

Greater vaal orb for free? DOPE!

if you enter the Corruption Room for the first time in your 10th Incursion, you will likely want to swap it for another as you won't be able to upgrade it in time for your journey into the final Temple.

What does this mean?

Totally not excited to be honest. I have to play a lot to reach this chamber to have a chance to corrupt an item. That's even worse than the Talisman league.

What are you even saying? One room = Incursion league < Talisman league? That makes zero sense.

The amount of new content and options they've added is excellent, why do you need to whine and cry immediately? Don't play a lot then, don't play at all then. I don't understand this concern 'I have to play a lot to reach this chamber' ...
i had to lough so hard XD when i read the last line... thats just gold XD

pls add a line that it can get destroyed otherwise i see hundreds of complain in global / reddit , because " i didnt knew" it can happen

As you assess the risk, ponder the four possible outcomes from crafting your item at the Corruption Altar:

Your item will be transformed to an Elder or Shaper rare with random socket numbers, colours mods, and links.
All of your item's sockets will be changed to white.
Two corrupted implicit mods will be added to the item.
Your item will be destroyed.

When you do an incursion it's a random room in the temple where you get 2 choices of what type of room you want. If it's your 10th incursion you wouldn't want to pick the room to be corruption chamber t1 as it would be impossible to upgrade to t3 before you run temple

The item becoming a Shaper or Elder rare doesn't seem to make much sense?
When the Altar was constructed, the Shaper didn't exist, and the Elder was sealed by Starforge. Presumably, I don't think we know exactly when the latter happened, but it's probably been a good while.
In the current day, they're both roaming the realms of the Atlas. The Shaper doesn't seem like he has any intention to leave (can he even? Not sure). The Elder, we're fighting to, among other things, keep the Elder from entering our realm. While we eventually discover the Decay has managed to enter Valdo Caeserius's chamber in the Templar Laboratory, it has not spread beyond it - nor do we know exactly when this happened, it could have been only very shortly before we opened it.

I understand that you wanted outcomes that went beyond those of a Vaal Orb, but this particular one doesn't seem to fit within the context of the game's lore.

Think of it as ancient architects running research on vaal orbs and creating a new device (aka altar of corruption) that even they did not fully understand. Maybe it is timeless. Since the league is all about time travel, the Vaal Orb could shoot the item into the future. Maybe that's what made it possible for Alva to make the connection with the temple in the past in the first place? Lots of explanations if you're creative.
Guess where I will bring my Tabula Rasa lol

Seems too much risk for not enough reward on expensive gears.

And you won't wanna be wasting your corruptions on trash either because reaching this chamber will likely take lots of time and also be gated behind RNG somehow.

The only valuable usage of this is in making craftable shaper/elder bases.

Still pretty meh.

Ngamahu's Cycloners are laughing right now. Don't give a shit about the links and the axe is cheap as a dog biscuit. Those will be uber vaal'ed every day of the week and twice on tuesday.

I did say expensive gears ie. 6l uniques.

Do you think they will not be 'corrupted' after turning into an elder/shaper base?

It would be amazing, but too op for GGG imo.

Vendoring 5 x corrupted items yields an uncorrupted base.

I think initially people will farm div cards for 6L chests, craft them and vaal for good implicits or white sockets. When you save up some currency, I think it's a reasonable risk to take, 50% chance for a positive outcome, of which 25% for a potentially GG item.

Yeah, but 25% chance to get elder/shaped base means on average it would take you 20 fully upgraded Tier 3 rooms to get the elder/shaped base that you want, e.g. opal ring. So, 20x opal ring bases at the desired ilvl is already expensive and difficult to buy, 20 temple runs is a full day's work at best, but assuming the room is rare or rng is not on your side, it might take you 50+ temple runs to get 20 Tier 3 Corruption rooms. All of that for 1 elder/shaper base.

this might be the altar where they got their items from tough. or this alter is able to produce the same alchemy as the shaper/elder use to craft their gear. this might be the altar where they learned to craft their gear,, or

Well, the Corruption Altar is in the "present day temple" is it not? So there shouldn't be a history problem, because you can't get shaper/elder item in the past. Am I wrong? :)
