ICE WITCH GUIDE (CI + FREEZING PULSE with LIFE LEECH 0.25 Cast Spd Per Pulse.)

Hello

I just hit A3 Cruel with my Level 50 witch and up to this point it has been pretty easy and fun thought I have died quite a few times to some nasty rares that insisted on taking down. Now though I find I am dying more often to just normal mobs whereas I can usually run into a room and wipe/freeze lock it out in seconds.

So my question is, is this normal? Is this that hard part of Cruel the guide mentioned and should I just slog through it until I get to Merciless?

My stats are
75% FR/CR/LR and -12 Chaos (This really sucks but hard to find chaos resist)
Life 482
ES 845 (with disc)
Freezing Pulse DPS 664

I'm running 4L FP and 4L IS + spell totem as listed in the guide. I am trying to save up to get 5L but I only have 1 exalted so far and they cost so much.

Any tips?

TL;DR
Should I just slog it through until I get to Merciless?
Anyway to get a 5L chest with 1 exalt?
Any other tips?

you could definitely buy a 5L with 1 exalted and i advise u to get one that is lvl 56+ with item lvl 60 or above.

Now are you dying due to chaos damage mob? if yes then just slog it thru or find gears with some HP. Your ES is a bit low atm, u should find some gears with more ES also.

]Hi,im using vaal pact but it seems not work (or not so good) did you test it?

its not gear depended

may be is better to use a 20% life leach amd dont use vaal pact...

Vaal Impact is to counter Mobs that reflect elemental damage and its effective for people who doesnt have a high amount of Max ES yet. If you havent met those reflect mobs yet then your lucky but if u do then u should know that it aint pretty at all.

If you feel that u dont need it then i suggest u respec into another route.

Absolutely love this build so far (I'm level 70 now) the one thing i am stuck on is getting a 5l chest, completely stuck in the loop of not being able to farm for one because i don't have the chest to be able to farm for a chest xD. But i love the build loads thanks Xmu

The mid levels for me were really really rough, until I managed to get enough ES to take CI, I died regularly and probably would have given up if I wasn't pretty much perma duo with my BF heh. I probably still play pretty crappy too though. Placement and getting your spells off at the right time can sure make a difference.

That being said, I'm really loving it now and I'm glad I suffered through.

I'm using this guide with one of my first characters (Been playing just a few days now) and I've just gotten to Act 3 and I die every time I come to a group of ranged attackers. Either melee mobs will block my way from getting to the ranged, or they'll simply kill me before I can get to them. I think the issue is a combination of getting interrupted while casting, and not being able to get close enough to use FP.

How are you handling positioning? Run speed and Quicksilver Flasks? Or am I overlooking a mechanic?

Since I'm relatively new, I don't exactly have the currency to buy a bunch of unique items. I'm struggling to even find 4L pieces, and I don't have most of the gems mentioned here. I'm getting enough dps to kill with FP/LMP/lightning and the cold curse, but my ES is pretty low (maybe 200) from just items I've found.
What do you guys think about the divinarius unique dagger? Was planning on getting one but might also consider spending the same amount of currency on a wand. Is there something a wand can roll that will provide better dps than the divinarius dagger?

Did you try elemental proliferation with spell totem ice spear gmp ?
im using it and seems to work very well

Proliferation reduces dps because it takes up a gem slot. I am Cold/Crit and using a 4L high Quality Cold Snap (quality increases Freeze duration) with Proliferation + Cold Penetration + AoE. This will freeze everything you need to freeze and means your main nukes do not need to be handicapped by a Proliferation gem.

This works fine solo but really shines if you have a regular group with a friend who has a support build using Conduit (which I have!). This is awesome because he feeds me Power charges very fast and I can spam Cold Snap if I want to (consuming a Power Charge removes Snap's cool down and I get the charge back immediately). This gives total control of even the most awkward dungeon-type map layouts, as I can just drop Snaps all over the place and keep pretty much everything frozen. Plus Cold Snap is the hardest hitting Cold spell (for me anyways) so the damage is nothing to sniff at and is an absolute boss killer from a very safe distance.
Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

Its not easy to start your first char but eventually it'll get better as u progress in game.
Some tips that might help u:

If you dont have a spell totem with ice spear then i suggest u make that your main goal for now. All u need is to place the totem to provide backup when u face alot of mobs.

Buying 4L items is very easy, just say WTB 4L ES item. The price for these is only 1 alchemy.
If you buy a white 4L then use alchemy on it to make it rare.

Another thing is to make sure you are using INT items to get the most ES out of it.

The unique dagger is nice. The only thing different from dagger and wand is that wand can have cast spd and dagger cannot, but dagger has way more crit than a wand.

Thanks. Also how important is projectile speed on a wand? Does projectile speed on a wand increase the range/dmg on FP to the point where it'll be noticeable? I have a 20% FP with 17% increase projectile speed on my current wand and am worried that removing the the 17% faster projectile on the wand will change the dmg at further FP ranges.

if u want some lightning damage to go with this gem then u can use the support gem (Added Lightning damage gem) and replace the increased crit dmg.

and use this tree if u plan to do so

The Static Blow keystone is important for the Added Lighting dmg support gem.
I also recommend u get a quality one since u get additional duration and +10% chance to shock with lightning dmg on a 20% gem.

I notice you don't have this build in your original post. Wondering how effect you feel this build is compared to your others. Static Blow seems to be a pretty good skill to take as long as you don't have to go very far to attain it. I'm just wondering if your crit ever gets high enough where having the added lightning damage will be good enough to apply the shock debuff. Or will have static blow really help enough to make it so you get at least 1 stack on all mobs before they die. 40% per stack seems pretty good to pass up.

I understand that this build is quite flexible and you can go a variety of routes. I'm just wondering how the static blow route compares to the other builds. If it might be more worth just going with increase crit chance or increase crit damage gem instead of added lightning damage gem.
Once I post an offer in a thread, I never check back. If I win something, please PM me.

Projectile spd is a nice asset and helps in different situation but 20% FP is good enough. Focusing on spell dmg , crit and cast spd should be ur main goal. More projectile spd might grant u hits on mob that are slightly far away and lets u land more pulse on a far away target but it should not be a stat where u sacrifice spell dmg ,spell crit or cast spd for.

Spell Dmg, Spell Crit, Cast spd > Projectile Spd.
Tho having all 4 stats on a wand is ideal but I've never saw one with all 4 that is good.

Static blow is very nice to have but it is not needed if you have a high crit and a 20% added lightning gem. Here is how it works :

you should be able to land at least 3x pulse per sec with 0.32 cast spd (easy to get) and lets say your crit is 34%, this will let u stack once with shock. So if your hitting a target that takes more than 3 sec then ur bound to cap ur 3x shock on him and ur shock duration only has to last 1 sec (although there is no way of telling).

Now u asked that mobs die b4 u can even apply 3 shock then ur wrong. In a party of 6 players, the mobs have so much hps which would require alot of hits, especially the magic mobs and rare mobs + very good against boss.

Only backdraw in using added light dmg gem is that u need a decent crit chance % for it to be effective.
