[0.11.0] Etup's EK Build
Hi Etup,
Thanks for the guide. Running this build now (started from scratch and just hit 31). I have got two four link items I can wear and I am not sure what to link with EK. One 4L is Bear Trap - Bear Trap - Added Fire damage - Culling strike Any suggestions on the best 4L with EK for levelling? |

cool build, was breeding over an EK marauder build earlier and then found this thread, which gave me some nice insight about endgame scenarios, thanks for that! got 3 questions now (sorry if they were asked be4, didnt read all 7 pages): 1. why not use 2 nodes for iron grip to gain it permanently and get a free slot (its absolutely necessary i guess coz u lack any spelldmg/projectile damage/fastcast nodes and it makes for ~80-100% projectile damage)? 2. why do u want ele dmg on ur staff (just listened to ur stream a bit, but maybe i understood it wrong)? i read in invalescos guide for EK EB shadow that +x-x dmg adds dont apply to EK, has that been changed? it shud roll spelldmg/critchance/multiplier/fastcast/res instead i guess? 3. haha forgot third question, its late here :p thats all for now i come back later for more stupid questions... good night! Iron Grip only affects projectile attacks whereas EK is a projectile spell.
So it won't do anything for EK. |

Would Resolute Technique not be worth it if you weren't speccing into crit? Would it also not be safer considering phys reflect is the builds nemesis?

I am also building an EK character.
When you read the description of EK it says: Projectile, Spell. So it is affected by everything that affects spells and projectiles: - Increased Spell Damage (read also Pain Attunement, Righteous Fire) - Increased Cast Speed (important since EK has 1 cast per sec as base) - Iron Will (if you have high strength) - Increase Projectile Speed (this increase AoE, very good) - Increase Projectile Damage It is not affected by: - increased elemental damage (since it does no elemental damage) - increased weapon elemental damage (same as above) - increased Physical Damage on weapon (this is a local modifier and increases weapon damage but EK does not use weapon damage) - adds x-y (elemental) damage since it is a spell and not an attack - Iron Grip (has no effect since it affects only projectile attacks) - AoE Radius/Damage passives (it is not an AoE skill, like Rain of Arrows) Sorry if I missed anything. What you should be looking on a weapon is(in this order): - Projectile Speed (AoE) - Cast Speed (self explanatory) - Increased Spell Damage - Mana (EK is very mana hungry) - Mana regen So most probably you will get these modifiers on a Wand. Please note: If going for Ghost Reaver you will not be able to gain ES through Life gain on Hit, ONLY Life Leech gem work. Life leech on items and passives don't work either because they leech from physical attacks. EK has his own crit chance listed on the skill, it does not use weapon crit chance. " the staff etup using is has 118 physical damage on it, would that mod greatly affect EKs damage rather than spell damage? we need etup to clear things up, this is quite confusing IGN: flaxburn

Physical dmg on the staff doesn't work for EK, but im 100% sure he uses the staff because it is 6linked and "+1 level of gems in this item"

he uses the staff because when you use khoms chest a staff is the only way to use 6 links as the chest has no sockets :) same reason kripp changed to staff
